I had a 2012 Black ZL1 and traded it to get a 2014 Ashen Grey with Recaro seats. The Ashen Grey us a million tomes easier than black, but yes White may be a million times easier than Ashen Grey.

I had 1 black car. Agreed looks great new or freshly cleaned but a PIA. I have had a few darker colors and Zaino works great on them. I do not want to start that discussion on what people like for waxes/polishes but getting swirl marks out of black is a bitch. Makes me cringe when people incorrectly put a machine on paint and trash it.

I turned down a black SS back in June of '09 that my dealer had in stock. Best move I
ever made was special ordering the delayed Summit White that day. I still get stares
and positive comments every time I take it out.

DO you detail other cars?

I'm looking for a good detailer I can trust with my ZL1.

I came SO close to buying a 2015 black ZL1. We were a few grand off in negotiations, paperwork was mostly done. I walked out - couldn't do it. An obsessed week later, not being able to bare not having a ZL1, I went back to the dealership. I fell in love with a Silver Ice Metallic. It was missing a few items - big one - Recaros, exposed CF insert, suede package. But I was able to do much better in negotiations on it and ended up with a price I was really happy with.

I traded in a Cyber Gray Metallic C6 which I could get to glow like a candle. The SIM does NOT show dirt. I'll bet it hides dirt better than the SW. It looks danged good after detailing, but never "awesome". For me it's a home run. I would have gone insane with the black. But I agree, right after detailing, NOTHING looks better than the black.

Silver Ice Metallic is awesome at not showing dirt, which is great as part of my driveway is currently gravel.

Black is a pain to keep clean. Yes, it shows dust and dirt like none other.

But consider this - do you want your car to be dusty and dirty or do you want it clean? While I've had more black vehicles than any other color, I love black on a car IN SPITE that it shows the dust and dirt sooner. Sometimes, I like it because of that!

So, it's just personal preference and I get that. But even if my car what white, I would want it clean because while from 50 feet away a somewhat dusty, dirty white car may LOOK clean?

We all know that it really isn't. And when you get up close and personal - you will see the dirt and dust regardless.

Black just keeps you honest in my opinion! Enjoy whatever you have!

I sure do. I have a ton of knowledge with paint correction. I've worked with some of the top detailers in the country.

Some of my work. Look at the sun/camera reflections to see the difference.

50/50

Should be clear which side has been machine polished

Nice work Six.Two. Wish you were in NW Ohio, I would have my car at your place right now.

I agree, I had a black 13 mustang gt and it was a disaster to keep looking nice. My 14 white Zl1 never really needs a thorough detailing to look good.

I have never been a fan of white cars but the zl1 in white with black wheels and exposed cf heat extractor is really pleasing to the eye.

I've got Summit White and it does look dirty. It picks up specks of road grime all over the place and you have to wash it a lot, just like a black car. It's the time of year when all cars here turn yellow, so not going to bother trying to detail it for a bit. Late April, I'll spend a weekend polishing, glazing, sealing and waxing everything that isn't under PPF.

I owned a black 94 Z28 for 13 years which in that time I put 275,000 miles on it, and it always looked great, people thought it was new. Never again though. Is the best color. White all the way for me now! Added red calipers to break up the black wheels a little.

But it's my only pastime on how I spend my Sundays

Sold my Phantom Black 2004 GTO for a Raven Black 2012 CTS-V Coupe...did I learn anything? Obviously not as my I went ahead and got a Black 2015 ZL1.

I must admit though my wife’s SUV is White, what does that say about me.
