Help with plan for HUD install...
I have a 2015 - 1SS and I want to install HUD in the car. I will be buying the "kit" from Gen5DIY, so I'll have everything I need for the job....if I decide to do the install....but here is where I would like some help. I am aware that the windshield is different, but when we did the install on a buddies 98 Vette, it was fine, so I don't expect that to be an issue, what I am most concerned with is this. I plan on buying a "take out" dash assy to keep my OE unit intact, and to also help with seeing exactly where all the bolts are, but I'm told that on one hand the dashes are different. The dealer tells me that 2010 is by itself, 2011 is also by itself and 2012-2015 are interchangeable...although I'm unsure due to the different radio options...which can change the radio speaker locations or number of speakers.

Only difference is the "leather" on the 12-15

He bought the car used, he didn't place the order to have it built to his spec. Hell, I got mine used in 2013, black was not my first color choice. He wants a change, just like us who get paint jobs, or add rims, or upgrade to NPP exhaust, or add a supercharger. Chill, help the man out.

when I added HUD, I just took my car to the dealership to have it done, while it was there I decided to change the color(with stripes), have the top removed, have leather added, NPP added, My Link added, rear camera, new wheels and tires too! and all that work took about an hour and a half......

I put a HUD in my 2014LS. If you take your time it can be done. It was hard for me because, I had to do it under a carport. Ofer at GEN5Diy was a great help. Back to the bolts, one that I broke was close to the gas pedal. It doesn't show on the instructions but its there. You have to get it from under the dash. The head of the bolt faces towards the front of the car, not like the rest of them facing down. As far as the windshield goes it looks just fine. No problem at all. The dashboard cutting was the part that made me most nervous because, if you mess it up you gotta get another one. Don't know if I would do it again but, I'm glad I did it.

I am also interested in the dash deal.. have looked into this mod but refrained cause I prefer the color option and it's just too costly. Other mods seem to be in order first. Please do keep us posted.
