Okay so I will fess up now. Just the other day heading to work at 5:10 a.m., get myself onto a highway that I am the only person on.... or so I thought??!! Singing happily along with some tunes to get me going knowing full well that I am go way faster than normal - but hey, I am all by myself on the road. The next thing I know thee is a car right beside me starting to keep pace. I turn my head slightly and realize that holy @#$% it's a cop. Took my foot off the gas (didn't slam on the brakes) and tried to slow it down without looking obvious (yeah right). Long story short... didn't stop me... watched me slow down... stayed with me for approx 1/2 km and then turned off. I continued on my merry way watching the speedo a bit more closely. Had fun for those few minutes and maybe it was because a woman was driving with a huge smile and singing those tunes. A bit of luck as well.

I made it one week before I got a ticket.
And never "make a guess" at how fast you were going. You admitted it, like anything you say or do can be used against you in court. |

I got a 98 in a 70 and the ink was still wet on the sale paperwork. I hadn't even gotten on the highway, he got me coming down the entrance ramp.

Take it easy out there folks.
These stories really aren't anything to be "proud" of, unless you're 19. |

Doh! That sucks. Anyone know of a deserted Top Gear-like airport we can take these things to in the DFW area? I'm still waiting for mine, and plan to be good with it, but it would be nice to try to open it up sometime.

Dude, the judge is going to throw the book at this guy. He could ultimately lose his license. 100MPH IS reckless driving. Cop should have arrested you, impounded your car and then destroyed your license. Be prepared to get annihilated in court buddy. Smart. REAL smart.

I'm extra careful though, seems like if 20 cars are speeding, the yellow camaro will be the first one to get pulled over.

Ouch! It's very easy to let this car get the best of you in terms of speed. I have noticed that I keep having to either set the CC or relax the "go fast muscle" in my right foot.........A LOT! GM did a great job making this car ride smooth at high speed! Almost too good because I keep wanting to take it faster.

Sorry guys, I'll try to explain this a little more clearly. I hope nothing happens to the OP. I know firsthand the speed you are driving does not at all feel as fast as you are actually going. It's happened to me on more than one occasion. In New Jersey, if I was caught doing 100MPH, I'd get owned so hard with at LEAST two tickets: Reckless Driving and Speeding. In Jersey, any car going in excess of 20MPH over the speed limit is all but guaranteed a reckless driving charge. The state also has a mandatory $250.00 surcharge right off the bat before you even have the judge spank you with more fines and a crapload of points. Might be different in Texas, but here, the police are merciless.

Come on, guys. You don't tap the gas and break 100 mph.
I went from a 1998 Plymouth Neon to a 2SS, and a good indicator that my speed is getting "up there" (besides the fact I have two speedometers) is when the trees go by, really, really fast. Anyways I have zero tickets and two rules when it comes to speeding; 1. If you are going to speed, make sure the person behind you is, too. 2. If you are breaking 100+, and you see the lights, don't stop. |
