Why do that when you can just use the shorter bolt the way the longer bolt was used? It grabs enough thread.

So the bolt could be removed from the bottom away from the windshield instead of the top. If it threads all the way then leave the nut out of the equation.

Bringing this thread back,,, My heater core went out! and now the windshield has to come off too.. I'm still under warranty and they want me to pay for a new windshield.. is this right? I shouldn't need to pay for nothing! did any of you guys have to pay up?

why does the windshield need to be replaced vs being reused?

Getting it out in one piece without cracking it is very difficult if not impossible.

Mine just went. 28000 miles and I have only used the heater two times. I put it away in the Fall and do not drive it till May. Dealer said it will cost around $1350.00 to repair.
This is BS!.

Yeah, they tried that with me. I had taken it in saying that I smell coolant inside, but of course they never did. When the warranty was up, it decides to start leaking coolant on the passenger side. I brought it in and they say "Yep, it's the heater core"....."No shit Sherlock!!" They told menu has to pay......HA!!! I called GM and told them I had taken the car to them 3 times while under warranty, and they found nothing.....now that the warranty is up their eyes are wide open. I don't think so......bottom line: They replaced the core FREE OF CHARGE!!!

Hey Scottishgames,

We regret to hear your heater is no longer working after putting your vehicle away for the winter. We understand how this may be disappointing and would like to look into this further with your dealership. If interested, please send us a private message with your VIN, full contact information, and involved dealership name.

We hope to hear from you soon!

Unacceptable poor quality

I have spent the last couple hours pouring over the leaking heater core threads so let me just revive this old thread with the same old problem. My 2014 has the same issue 5 model years later and they still can't get it right. I bought my 14 new in june of 15 so it's only been on the road 2.5 years. I enjoy driving my Camaro so I am over the 36K warranty limit with about 6 months left timewise, but I am afraid I have a snowballs chance at getting any help on this one.
For a $37K car, I guess I just expected more. Between the "Service Stabilitrak" warning everytime I accelerate through a curve and the phantom flashing Check Engine light on most every on ramp (That goes off leaving no code) and now the joy of toxic chemicals streaming into the cabin in both a liquid and gaseous state I am having serious doubts about my lifelong loyalty to GM. Just sayin.... h

Oh and I forgot to mention the whole key won't come out of the ignition thing, but they did replace the shifter with no issues since
