There's something wrong with your car if you're getting mid teens for MPG with a light foot. My V6 (G8- no DI, heavier car) gets me 25-26 per tank - calculated manually at every fill up.

If I really baby it I can get a little over 27 mpg on the tank - but I don't baby it, going fast is too much fun. This is with about 80% highway driving, I have just over 5k miles on the car.

When I get a Camaro it'll probably be a V6 as well, I'd like the extra power of the V8 but I drive 25k+ miles per year and the difference in MPG actually makes a pretty big difference on my wallet. In the V8 I know I'd be in the high teens low 20s per tank.

Have you manually calculated the MPG yet? I know you were saying you were looking at the computers MPG. If you are doing mostly in town driving you should expect at least high teens for MPG with your car, that's what I get with a heavier car and no DI.

u guys using 93 octane? ..... Remember that the knock tables killed the MPG in the L99's because of 87 octane.

I get 21.0 with a semi heavy foot in my LS3... I am runnin 93 octane.

For the last 1300 miles, I have been averaging 21.2 mpg with my SS. Overall, not too bad. I have cruised along from Chicago to Milwaukee and gotten over 24 mpg. Laugh if you want to, but, I verified each reading mathematically also.

Gosh, I love this car!

It will get better. Mine was just as horrible if not worse. Still not the greatest but not as bad as it was before.
I honestly toook it to some far away open road and gunned it.
People were saying stuff about the engine being tight and what not so i came up with my own theory, did it and my numbers improved. Im just saying this is what worked for me, not telling anyone to do the same lol

550 Miles, 80% Highway and my DIC Average is 17.5MPG, light footing, shifting between 2-3k and cruising most of the time at 75-80 in 6th, only dropping to 5th every now and then to vary the RPMS. Tried the fuse pull and did NOTHING for me

I did think the milage was going to be alot better than that but what are you gonna do?

Theres no reason to get mileage that poor, I get that in the city with my LS1. Manually calculate your mileage and if it stays that low take it to the dealer.

Theres no reason not to get anywhere near the advertised MPG ratings especially if you are babying it.

Wow, something is wrong for real bro. I haven't reset my Camaro's MPG calculator ,got it with less than 10 miles on it. I have about 10020 miles on it now and have been driving a mix of hwy/city with rough driving and cruising. My DIC reads 22mpg!!! So go get it checked or try and calculate manualy.

I've gotten over 30mpg hwy from my cabin in Slippery Rock, PA back to Pittsburgh. Average speed 65.

My total average since being back however, is back down to 17.3. What is the terrain like where you live? It might have less to do with your driving habits and more to do with where you live.

Don't forget that idling will kill your mpg's too! Think about it, burning gas while idling no matter how little gas is burning will kill the mpg's because you're not accruing any mileage at all. Reset your MPG before a decent non-stop highway trip and see what it is reading. If you aren't getting anywhere over 20 mpg, there is definitely something wrong and it needs to be addressed to the dealer. I used to always reset my MPG on my 07 Suburban just before different types of driving. Best I ever pulled over a half hour period was 24. Once I stopped at a light, it would start dropping immediately, and then taking off with all the weight, it would get killed. I could keep it at a decent level, but never back up to 24 no matter what cause that was best and the idling and taking off after that dropped it. Obviously I couldn't pass 24 mpg to get the avg back to 24, but eventually it evened out at about 16-17. Just trying to give you an idea of how it works. Your average will fluctuate depending on driving including speed, stops, take offs, idling, etc. Reset it right before city driving then reset it right before highway driving. Do this many times to get a feel for what your car is capable of during different traffic conditions. If there is an obvious problem, take it to the dealer with your known results! Tripometer should have nothing to do with your average MPG meter!
