Hard to say if a rear gear swap with the eLSD will be just a few hundred bucks. I know it's just a mechanical LSD in the middle with a ring and pinion, but who knows what they did to integrate the package?

But that's why they are like $500 a peice haha especially for 305s!
You can't really compare lateral grip between tires on different chassis. The GS has a lower CG, and more balanced weight distribution than the 1LE, and wider rear tires, all of which effect lateral grip.

On page 37 C&D lists the all time top turn 1 lateral acceleration:

Z06 -> 1.20
GS -> 1.19
Molser -> 1.16
Z/28, 918 -> 1.16
GT-R/Nismo, Viper ACR -> 1.15
911 GT3RS -> 1.14
Hurican -> 1.13
F12, Viper TA, 488 and SS 1LE -> 1.11

If they list what the GT350 pulled I can't find it, but given its not in the above list, its less than the SS 1LE. The Goodyears are holding their own, matching the 488 on Sport cup 2's, and ahead of the GT350, M4 GTS and Caymen GT4 all of which are also on Cup 2s.

They're a great tire, but you will sacrifice some things for them on a DD car.
The Bridgestone RE-71R is amazing in the wet. Very few street tires are better. I'd have no qualms about reasonably cool weather either.

If it did, then why did C&D leave it off the all time list? 1.18 would put the GT350 third on their all time list, and it's not on it. I'm not sure where the 1.18 comes from but its not the Lightning lap article. In fact C&D states that the GT350 had less grip in turn 1 than the Z/28:

"But in Turn 1, the GT350 can't match the Z/28's grip".

Given the Z/28 'only' pulled 1.16, and the GT350 is less than that, the GT350 can't have pulled 1.18. And since it didn't make the all time list, what ever it pulled was less than 1.11. That or C&D screwed up and omitted it which I doubt. I found the table in the web article on this page: http://www.caranddriver.com/features...d-more-feature and the GT350 isn't listed on the web page either. Here is a copy of the table:

Seems it just may benefit from a simple fluid or pad upgrade, which is common and typical for anyone tracking a car...

Ok, that helps. Maybe once the numbers are shown from Motortrend things will be more in line.

That is an impressive lap for the 1LE that is for sure!

Shocked he mentioned that the brakes started to fade, that shocked me.

I've had terrible luck with Goodyears the last 15 years. Everything firm impalas to 4 caddy SRXs to GTOs. Most were unable to be balanced. I switched to continentals, bridgestones and Michelins. The Michelins have been perfect in correcting vibrations.

Possibly either pad knock back or the car is so quick now that it does need bigger rotors, etc.

Not as good as the re11 was in the wet though.

Yep that killed it for me....I spent $7500+ on my last 1LE to finally come up with a good solution at the track....Not doing that again!

It's only 100-130 lbs lighter than the last gen.

Which actually is a lot lighter lol. But for the lap time put forth I can make an exception and do a little work to it to make it where I want it. Nothing some better lines, brake fluid, pads, can't change anyway.

I wonder if they properly glazed the brakes and put the cooling fins in?
