Front license plates - drill or not?

I have read and seen a lot about front plate mounting. Some do not want their bumpers drilled. I am leaning towards this myself. Problem is front plates in NY and NJ are required. I have seem some motorized license plate mounts but those don't look so great to me.
What have you done? What are your suggestions?

I ordered mine on e-bay motors and there is no drilling at all, bolts right up to the factory bolts under the nose.

Im in North Jersey also... I used the mounting plate that came with the car, just mounted it a little lower using long zip ties(and felt padding the back where it would touch). 3 months and no problems yet!

I went the zip tie route as well, and I've had it on since last December with no issues.

That was what I had heard long zip ties. I have to get under the car to see where it can go. I thought maybe on the lower grill.

I did the same as Rage except I mount the top with Bolts and washers to the bottom grill and zip ties on the bottom... 6 months and still going strong....

Search the forums and you will find all kinds of ways to mount with out drilling....

I never put my front plate on. Never had a problem with police and it's going on 1 year. The front end looks better with no plate IMO.

Ditto.. Still no front plate for me (6 months) and only got pulled over once for it. However, when he asked why I didn't have a front plate and I told him "I don't really want to drill into the front bumper on this car" and he said "I wouldn't either", then let me go without a ticket.. I don't think I'll be putting one on any time soon.

I was thinking beforehand that if I was ever pulled over I'd say the same thing. Better off being honest than come up with some BS story. Hey J., did you ever do the muffler delete?

Front plates are required in a lot of places... just leave them off... follow the rules of the road and you shouldn't be pulled over for just a plate. If you ever do,,, a ticket every couple of years is worth it IMHO.
