Longtubes in an emissions state

I'm looking to get a pair of longtubes (still debating on brand), but my biggest question is with emissions. How practical is it to hold on to the stock manifold and cats and put them back in just for emission inspection. My tuner can hold multiple tunes, so I can save cat/not cat settings.

I'm not sure the exact emissions law in VA, how do they test your cars? Is it a sniff test or do they just scan it?

my car is actually registered in NC (military), down in Onslow county. I'm not sure what the test is made of.

Just read up on the requirement. It requires them to conduct inspections using the vehicle’s on-board diagnostic (OBD) system.

Then as long as the relocation of the o2 sensors is not throwing a code, you'll be fine. If there is a visual inspection, you might be SOL...such is the case here in CA.

Same here in IL, all they look for is your car throwing codes. As long as you take care of that with a tune then you'll pass.

If you interested in headers we have some options for you. We also offer a Camaro5 discount.

I have KOOKS LT and a tune (from JDP Motorsports). O2 sensors threw out a code at C5FestII so we turned it off. I just got My latest On-Star email and it showed my "Emissions" as all in the green. I wonder if this means I'll pass a OBDII scanner emissions test?

I lived in NC for a few years stationed at Seymour. There's no visuals, just OBD scanner. You shouldn't have an issue keeping the long tubes on all the time. If you're worried though then get headers designed for a 2.5" catback and it will be a direct swap of the stock manifolds and cats. If you get a full 3" setup then it isn't going to go back on easy unless you put the entire stock exhaust back on which is a lot to lug around when you move every couple years.

I already have Borla ATAK cat-backs, although I hear 3" exhausts are better for the Whipple I'm putting on in July.

It won't cost you much power unless you plan on running a lot of boost. But like I said you'll be fine with aftermarket cats unless the laws change so go with the setup you like.

I won't be running too much boost without a forged block and some more internal work. I guess I'll get by haha. Thanks for the input!

Great question...just ordered my LTs so I needed a refresher in this info as well.

Any one know the rough HP difference in the top end headers when it comes to HF cats/vs off road pipes?

High-flow cats versus no cats...probably no more than 2-3 hp I believe. Maybe some others can chime in on this, but I know I went 'no cats' more for the sound than the power gain.

Your DISCOUNT must be a rebate or ???? Took a look (on your website) at your ARH 1-7/8" LT Catted w/ X-Pipe for $1895.00...

$1895.00 doesn't look like a discount but rather right up there at top dollar. I suggest checking out some of the other vendors on the site then re-evaluate your Camaro5 discount.
