Rinse after foam?
Getting ready to do my first Adams detail to my car and want to get the steps right. I'm wondering if you all rinse the car off after you have applied the foam layer to remove anything the foam had loosened?
And just for further discussion here's my detailing work list Rinse Foam Gun (Let sit) Wash car (wash bucket, wipe, rinse bucket, repeat). 2 mits, #1 top of car (to bottom of window) #2 bottom of car (bottom of windows to rocker panel) Rinse Clay Rinse Wash Rinse Dry Polish Wax I bought the Junkman Total Paint Correction Kit w/Americana Wax, Adams Foam Gun Kit, 2nd Clay bar, and Leaf blower. I'll be getting some kind of pad cleaner, maybe the Grit Guard one and some form of rim cleaner in the near future. |

I rinse, foam, rinse, foam, wash, clay, wash, rinse, and finally dry.
You can skip the first rinse, and go straight to foam, then rinse. Just make sure you've rinsed the heavy stuff off before you go to washing.

While i won't doubt your experience, and rinsing after the first foam is a good idea, always foam it again before you wash it again. Lubricates the crud that you wash off with the mitt. Everybody's got their own little touches that work as well Keep it clean!

I agree - the extra lubrication the foam adds while washing is like a insurance policy against swirls!

... and washing the car directly after foaming it is the proper way to do it.

I'd also add that for times the car is a little more dirty than usual a pre-foam and rinse is a good idea.
Rinse the car down to knock loose any stuff on the surface. Foam the car down and allow it to dwell... literally until the foam runs off the sides completely. This action of the foam sliding down will emulsify and take a lot of the dust and grit with it. Then rinse and refoam. Proceed with your normal bucket/grit guard/foam gun wash from there. I use that process for cars that are VERY dirty to minimize the chances of swirls. |
