In other words, just buy a Bugatti Veyron and you'll be pushing close to 280 (but still not quite there). I don't think we have a production vehicle that is that fast.

Interestingly enough though, the Camaro has a slightly better drag coefficient than the Veyron. .35 vs .36

If Gale Banks could get a 3rd gen firebird past 280 mph without radical changes (except to the powertrain) then a 5th Gen Camaro should be able to.

Besides, it only has to make the run once.
