I finally got a chance to try the new mods out this past weekend at the TX2K11 race. It started years ago as a Supra race, but since those cars are disappearing they've added a domestic class. There were some crazy cars there so I didn't expect to win, but wanted to have some fun.

On Saturday in my first qualifying pass I ran an 11:30 @ 126mph.

Sunday I pulled up next to a Porsche Turbo S for my 2nd qualifier. This was an all wheel drive modified car. I treed him big time, but he caught up and passed me at the very end.

Less than an hour later it was time to race. I pull into the staging lanes to find out I was racing the Porsche again! He'd qualified with a 10.90 to my 11.30. There were cars running in the 8s, but I at least wanted to make it through the first round. After talking to Owen, we decided to go with a larger nozzle and up my spray from a 75 to a 115 shot. I went through my burnout, purged the NOS and lined up at the box. The Mickey Thompson's hooked right up and the car launched like a beast. I treed the Porsche again, but this time pulled away from him all the way down the track.

I lost the next round to a car that was running 9s, but I didn't care. Getting into the 10s for a complete amateur like me was amazing!

That's awesome and what its all about. Taking a street car and modifying it so you can whip up on a $160,000 Porsche Turbo.
