yeah i kow. magazines do this all the time. they do it to make the other car look better. they compare a car to somethign lesser to make it look extremely awesome. and some times the manufacturer has some persuasion in it.

Its called a gear swap... some people do it now-a-days... nice to have 3.73s or 4.10s with "2" overdrives

Not really they didnt, the topic is Camaro vs and over buffed competitor and MT sold it as if they were in the same class etc. Seriously no matter what MT says about the Camaro good or bad wont affect how lame I think that magazine is. They have to put whatever is new and exciting on there cover. there biased based upon how much ad revenue they generate. I could get an older Gremlin on there cover as car of the year if I spent enough! Again I say piss on Motortrend!

The 4th gen was one of the best reviewed cars of the '90s,i don't expect anything different with the new one,if it's as good as everyone says. The cover did EXACTLY what Motor Trend wanted.....get our attention. 5 or 6 pages later of arguing about basically nothing,i'd say Motor Trend did a excellent job.

Yes that is true, but the gear ratio does change, you may not hit 6th on the track, but it being there changes your ratio for gears 1-5, correct me if I am wrong! A 5 speed your 5th gear is the OD gear. Also, I have heard that the 6th will get you a couple more mph on top end over the 5th gear, so 5th doesn't really hit top speed. 5th is pretty useless at high speed on my 5-speed cobalt anyways.

For the Camaro, 5th is also an overdrive in all but the V6 manual. I think that what they have done in some of their new 6 speeds (lots of different versions it seems) is they took the 4 speed, gave it a really aggressive 1st gear and then made 6th an economy gear. I think this is how they did it for the truck engines at least.

Don't hold your breathe. By the time MT comes out with anything remotely good about the SS, we here would have already known how good it was from better sources.

Well,they sure loved the V6. 'Camaro Performance Portfolio',it's a book containing all roadtests of the 4th gen. Motor Trend(and basically all of the mags) is very Camaro friendly,i have no doubts that it will have an excellent review.
