My V6 plan...

I need some feedback. I have Airaid V2, MRT V2 w/o resonators and just got a transmission tune. My goal is to do DT shorties and hi-flow cats and a torque converter. Soon after I will start using nitrous for track purposes. I don't want a CEL because I don't want to do the trifecta tune.

1. Can you find hi flow cats for this car and just by them self?
2. Putting shorties on with hi flow cats cause a CEL?

how did you tune the tranny?

solo has high flow cats.

and more than likely, yes, it will cause a cel, because it's the rear o2 sensor that throws the cel, which is after the cats, and is a inefficiency cat cel.

BB more than likely it will throw a code with the Cats and shorties.

The tune is the only way to get ride of the code that I know of.....

Congrats on the Trans Tune....Nice.....

I have the SOLO high flow cats. No codes for about 10,000 miles, but for the past few months, I get the CEL every now and then.

The CEL is not just from the headers but the flow rate of the high flow cats tells the O2 sensor there's an issue. You may be able to get by with the O2 extensions or whatever they're called. It looks like an extension to take the O2 sensor out of the direct flow of the exhaust. The long tube guys had some that messed with it for awhile. Some kept the CEL away for a long time but it just popped back up.
For the high flow cats, a 2 1/2" in/out high flow cat should work.
On the desire to stay away from the tune and use nitrous, there's some doing it and the ones that are that I know of are keeping the fuel jet on the fat side which will tend to keep it safe.
Good luck and have fun.

oh yeah, and solo does sell extenders for their high flow cats. you might be lucky and not get a cel, but it is a risk.

just a Q why are u worried about the cel? is it for emission purpose or is it because you just dont want to drive with the orange light on?
I got my cel for the left and right due to no cats and long tube but its been running good with no prob and very strong.
I eventually want to get a tune after vararam with the only tuner trifecta, but if theres no hp to gain than i rather just wait out, plus i got a manual anyway which i heard that the auto benefit more with the tune.
does anyone know how much more hp one can gain with trifecta after LT, intake and exhaust?

Anyone can get into the tranny. ARD tuned it for me. Pretty much the only performance shop I will EVER trust. mlee and Dangeruss are ARD builds. We sat down and talked and decided that we didn't want to go the Trifecta tune route. We may have to sit down and talk again though.

LOL I get that! Just seems broken, which is why I want the tune before LT's even though I will get the most gains going LT's first.

Yeah. Its just the guy I trust with my car doesn't really trust me getting a mail order tune no matter what everyone says.

And being a Texan they won't pass state inspection with the CEL on(but I might know a guy that knows a guy who got his sticker with the light on).

Well, up until last wednesday, I really didn't care about the CEL anymore. I was used to it. On wednesday, I got nitrous put in. went on the dyno, and my chart looked like the rockies. Up, down, up, down, all the way through the powerband. I'll post a pic of it tomorrow. I need to get that thing smoothed out. I also want to get a tune for a 100shot, maybe 125 later down the road. I know people have been running 100 with no tune, I just want to play on the safER side. lol
