So, you never did get any actual proof one way or the other on the AFM issue?
None of the links you posted in this thread work.

Chevy loaned me a 2012 Tahoe and you could turn it off in the menu control.

What are these "paddles" you speak of?

They are the paddle shifters located on the steering wheel. When placing the car in "M" you can manually shift gears with the L99 (automatic) engine.

I'm new to this site, but hate the AFM. I don't live close to a big town so might have a tough time finding someone to tune my car. Is it a simple plug in chip or what?

This is my wifes car, it doesn't bother her too much but I can notice it, especially with the top down.

Any help would be appreciated.

The only way to turn AFM completely is with a tune. But, it can be done temporalily by following this: Place transmission in M mode, press tap button down ( - ) and then up (+) and then down again. This will turn off AFM and you will have to use the tap shift buttons to change gears.
Whenever you move the transmission lever to park, reverse, drive etc the AFM will become active again and to turn it off you will have to go thru the above sequence again.

Hope this helps.

on my 2012 SS, I shift to "M" mode, paddle shift up to 2nd, then downshift to 1st, then upshift to 2nd and take off, AFM is deactivated and will stay deactivated till
I shift to "D" , "N", "R" or "P" AFM will then activate.
been doing this since I installed an axle back exhaust, with the aftermarket exhaust you can hear AFM kicking in and out if you are in "D" or "S" mode. Unless you get a tune to disable AFM, the only way to tempory disable AFM is to use "M" mode and use the paddle shift.
hope this helps

No. This thread has been interesting.

A good debate about a technical subject is much better than:

"What did you name your Camaro"?

“What cartoon character is your Camaro"?

"My dad won't let me get a V-8".

THOSE are 3rd grade recess threads.

I'm glad my V6 is always a V6. I'd have that tuned out immediately!

You don't want a part time V3?
