Unhappy We need prayers here in Oklahoma

We've got several wildfires going on. The worst is in Medicine Park, which is part of my community. At least 14 homes have been destroyed, and at this point, it is still out of control. Everyone in the town has been evacuated.

The firefighters who are trying to save these homes and property are going to be working today in 107 degree heat as well. So please pray for them.

Medicine Park is an historical town, with lots of old cobblestone homes. I hope that not everything is lost.

Thank you all for the thoughts and prayers. So far about 5000 acres have burned, about 1500 of those in Medicine Park. It is about 40% contained. The winds started up this afternoon, but have died down tonight. They have managed to keep it from destroying any more homes so far than the 14, and there are no injuries, thank God. Medicine Park is all evacuated, and it looks like they may be evacuating some surrounding areas as the fire spreads east.

For anyone who has been to Medicine Park, it sounds as though the business district has not been affected, the area where the Old Plantation is located. That part is good news.

It started on the West Artillery Range on Fort Sill, and spread rapidly north from there.

Going to be another hot day tomorrow. Actually we don't have a day under 103 for the next 10 days. I believe we are at over 30 days already over 100, and we are in a severe drought. I heard this morning that the National Weather Service has said that we are in for a heat wave that will "rival any we have seen since the Dust Bowl." Sounds like a good summer to go north.

No, it moved north. Lake Lawtonka is closed because the fire has now reached that area.

Thank you all for the prayers, they were answered. Last update... they were able to get the fire under control, and people are going back to their homes. There were a total of 13 homes destroyed. Despite working in 100+ temps, all firefighters are unharmed. These are all volunteer firefighters, as this is a rural area, although I do believe that Fort Sill had sent some of their firemen to help. It was a challenge because many of the homes in the path of the fire were on Big Rock, rough, rocky terrain on a large hill. Most of the historic parts of the town were spared damage.

We are under a severe drought. We have had no significant rain since October, except for a few thunderstorms, and were even in a drought prior to that, and on top of the dry grass and brush, there are still a lot of dead trees, branches and limbs in the wooded and mountain areas from the severe ice storms we have had the past 2 winters. And add to that 100+ temps every day (109 today and tomorrow), fire danger is extreme.

Definitely are praying for relief, because the forecast does not favor us any time soon. :(

We live in a fire area too. Y'all are in our prayers. Come on, God send all the water from Minot on down to OK where it's needed!
