mph tachometer

My mph tachometer stoped working last month( the digital one still works) around 37k miles, Took it in to get looked at today and found out that the its not covered and is 370$ to fix

I would have thought since it still has low miles and that its not a part that would break under hard driving or would even go out on such a new car it would be coverd or atleast the part.

The dealer said first time they have seen this in a camaro,I would think that maybe it would get fixed since it sounds like its a factory defect that should be coverd,I kinda feal like they are trying to rub in my face that I did not buy the extra warranty wich is lame imo...... I would totaly understand that if it was something that would break under being to ruff or not using it right or if it had high miles
Sorry for the rant Just never understood why buy a new car then have to buy a deffrent warranty on top of the price of the car for things that should be coverd for such a well built car thats well under 75k...

Your speedomter stopped working, or both the speedometer and the tachometer?

Technically, they don't have to cover it is they don't want, since you are beyond the 36K warranty. However, I have an aunt who had the speedometer break on her Windstar at about the same mileage. The dealer convinced Ford to cover 90% of it. If you lean on them a little, you might get something. It's at least worth a shot.

Ask the dealer to use a good will warranty since you are just over 36K, They can do it if they want. Be nice when you ask and not demanding.

On my wifes 2004 avalanche the tac and speedometer stopped working at about 60,000 and the dealership replaced the cluster assy. parts free and I had to pay for the labor. I thought that was mighty fair of them.

Just the mph tac that stoped working. The eng tac works just fine it started acting funny in dec 2010 when the temp outside got real cold but then worked fine when it got warm so I didnt think to much about it. The car had right around 37,500 miles when it stoped working compleatly the car has 39,500 on it now I put well over 2k miles a month on it for my job and work from 7am to 7pm five to six days a week and makes it tuff to get in to get It worked on.
Its not 100% broke Id say 95% of the time it does not work and 3% of the time it works fine. the other 2% it moves when the car starts then sticks around 40mph from where it starts at,So if im driving 70mph it says im doing 110mph

I hope they will fix it I had a car a few years ago the ecu went out and would die if the tac went over 3k rpm and it had 80k with out warranty and they covered it,I shall cross my fingers lol
