Yes, the larger version is available. I forgot I haven't put it on the site yet lol. I also have the amp rack for the passenger side ready to go on there too.

Tried the boston g3 today in the factory enclosure spot sounded like crap my guess is that the woofer is underpowered due to it being 4 ohm and the amp only powering it at 185 watts at 4 ohms and the woofer is rated at 375 watts so far the jl audio ib marine sub sounds best next to the factory sub in my opinion im running a jl 700/5 amp and believe it or not the factory sub sounds almost as good as the jl marine sub that's rated for ib usage... the subs I tried were kicker memphis audio kenwood jl audio and boston g3

That's a real shame, cause I have one sitting on my work bench ready to go in. I was hoping it might sound ok w/ the factory amp... guess that's not gonna happen. I do have an amp that will push it at 360 watts at 4 ohms, but if I'd known I was going to have to use it, I would have probably gotten the dual voice coil. And, I'm going to have to figure out how to wire the amp up if I want to do it before ******** has more harnesses in stock... Oh well, just part of the fun!

Good times... maybe the g3 I tried was underpowered johnny, my amp would only.push it at 185 watts at 4 ohms so that could have been the problem

Thanks for the great information chopper. I will probably try the factory sub with an amp first to see how it does and how much more bass will be needed to make me happy. Depending on how it is, I would either get the marine sub or put a sealed sub in the trunk.

My findings were pretty much the same as yours. Every sub reacts a little differently in the factory spot. Which is why I say not just any sub is gonna work in that spot. And if you pour on too much power, it just sounds worse. It moves like crazy but you don't get a lot of sound. I had best luck with around 300w rms on the kicker and infinity 10s. I still have the prototype 10 box laying around if you want to toss one of those good 10s in it for a listen. |
