My OnStar failed me - Camaro5 Chevy Camaro Forum / Camaro ZL1, SS and V6 Forums

I hope that nobody else had to run into this same issue as me but has anyone else have their OnStar fail them when getting into a wreck? Unfortunately my baby was "slightly" damaged yesterday. My OnStar attempted to connect at the moment of impact but it never connected until (I learned today) over 2 hours after the accident. The cops, fire trucks, ambulance, wreckers, etc. showed up but after the car was sitting at the body shop! I called OnStar today to yell at them and find out why it never connected and all they said was the antennae could have been damaged, the car's electrical system may have been damaged, it couldn't connect to a cell phone tower, blah blah blah. They did offer me 9 months of free service though despite the fact I have NO car!!

Anyways...thought everyone should know this. Thankfully I wasn't lying there bleeding for 2 hours before help arrived or 500 miles away from civilization...

Thanks everyone. Basically a punk kid turned left through the intersection without yielding (we both had green lights but he didn't have a green protected arrow). What a day! I'm having the car brought back to the dealer I bought it from (Classic in Houston) and may tack on a few things while it's in the shop. Any suggestions? At the very least I'll probably have the stripes painted on but am torn between all the different styles of stripes to add.

that sucks glad you are ok. well my Onstar ends on the 26 of this month looks like i am not going to renew it. come to think of it they have yet to call me and offer me a deal or to keep it there loss.

Looks like a heck of a hit.....OnStar may have failed, but that high safety rating of the Camaro seems to have done it's work!! Especially since you're on here, able to complain about OnStar. Glad you're OK!

I must say that the Camaro did it's job well in terms of keeping me safe! Kudos to the car, the company and most importantly, the person/people who put it together!

glad u are ok man. my mother was in a full size trailblazer. she got rear ended while she was stopped. the mans pick up landed in her back seat, the trail blazer went inside of an acura and the acura went underneath a dodge ram. my moms seat collapsed from the impact and no air bags went off. she even got knocked out for a few moments then tried hitting the emergency button and nothing. they told us just that one spot was a 'non service' area. I live in a busy town and the wreck was 5 minutes from my house. Trailblazer, truck, acura totaled.
