Camaro price increase?
EDIT: HERE IS PRICE INCREASE NOTICE:
http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=17292 I know that this belongs in the dealer pricing etc. area but I wanted to post it here for visibility. I just got off the phone with my dealer to check on my order status. My status hasn't changed but he told me that he had just received notification that the Camaro just had a price increase. Once their system is updated with the new prices, he is going to give me a price comparison of my order specs. with the new prices. Any of the dealer members have this info?

You should qualify for price protection.
The dealer will get billed for pricing at the time of production and then given a credit once delivered. The question, CamaroScotty, is how do we, the consumer, ensure that protection is actually passed on to us and not abused by the dealers? I see many dealers changing their price to reflect the window sticker and then keeping the credit as well? This could be a serious scam. |

There was a large thread on this already. Buy now if you have the budget.
I am sure it will go up a bit for 2011 model, but not for 2010 IMO*. GM has not done that for a while they always raise at the model year. But they could start 2011 MY's later this year probably in the fall so that's when it will probably go up. |

Sorry for the re-post. Yes, dealer said all pre-orders are covered by price protection.

If you pre-ordered and locked in at MSRP, then even with a slight price increase, once more are produced those who wait untill demand eases up will still pay less than anyone who ordered before the price increase.
Just sayin. |

This is not good PR for a new model launch. Very annoying. If it's more than about $750 I'll be really peeved.

I don't see it helping sell more Camaros. Many independent reviews with pricing have been published, so when those who haven't pre-ordered go to check em' out at Dealer, and find price jumped up, that can't help. Many people are stretched very tight financially these days, and this is not going to help at all....and I would guess that a good many potential Camaro buyers out there can just barely afford current pricing (myself included). But preorder is not an option for me. I need to test drive before buying to make absolutely sure this is the right car, and I would guess, so do many others who have to be prudent with the little extra money they have. Cars haven't even hit lots yet, and already a price jump...... |

They can't just give it away. A reasonable profit should be the goal. Supplier prices go up cause the bulk ordering goes poof (suppliers have to jack up parts costs cause they make less).

Not one person has taken delivery yet and there's already a price increase being announced? That's way too funny. What a way to launch a new car.
