Hey...is that your vette in your signature?
It was, I sold it to my best friend in NY this past March. That picture was taken in June '11 when my friend came to visit. To tell the truth... I really miss that car!

It happens probably more with this car than some others, because the V6 puts out a decent amount of HP plus the LS or LT Camaro looks so similar to the SS. The dollars dictate the difference...hence the settling.

I have always loved that color, and I love the jet stream blue on the c6.

I agree with you that people shouldn't settle .... especially if they are so sad that it ends up costing them more in the end! I got exactly what I wanted, v6 6spd sunroof aqua blue, and haven't regretted it at all...but I didn't settle for a different color or no sunroof or automatic. Now....if the vert came in aqua blue.....

I love how you guys are tellin this person to go ahead and spend 39 grand on a car and restart her car note for what I'm sure is at least a 60 month loan at another 75 dollars a month, plus more expensive gas.

The new SS is going for roughly 37,500 (39,xxx minus the rebate she mentioned. They are going to give her 26,500 on a car she owes 29,000 for. So thats 37,500 + additional that will be left on her current note.

Am I missing something here? How is that smart?

Now of course I don't understand her situation...NONE of us do! But I will say that I put down 14 grand on my car, and was still able to keep a good amount in the bank for myself (can't drain yourself on a car purchase) and I still went with the V6.

Is another 90 HP /130TQ and lower exhaust note worth being thousands more in debt? I'm not saying it is or isnt...I'm just making a statement. If you feel you can do it...then go have fun!

It may not be smart financially....but...if it makes her happier and she can afford it...then I say ....go for it!!

If you are looking for / need justification, you should probably not get it.

I had this same dilema a few weeks ago. I have a friend that works at GM and was going to give me a nice deal on a v8. After crunching the numbers, I would have the same exact car payment I have now except now I'd be in debt quite a bit more (and that's hoping for a good interest rate) and would have to give up all the extra warranties I have on my v6 now. Not to mention some of the stuff I have done to do it, which is a lot, wont transfer like the exhaust (which is $1200) and the CAI ($275 for an upgrade kit to fit a v8), painted calipers, my custom vinyl decals, and the custom flamed engine cover/fuse box that I just finished which was a father/daughter project so it has special meaning to it.

I have decided to stay with my v6. The v8 didnt impress me as much as I thought it would and I show my car competively (which she won TOP 10 in her first show a few weeks ago!) so she is a beautiful car and is definately quick enough. The added exhaust and CAI has helped a lot. I would think long and hard about changing. To me, it just wasnt worth it. Maybe in a few years, I'll get a ZL1 but for now, I'm sticking with my 6 banger
