New Camaro Owner

Hey guys and ladies.
New to this forum and have to admit, it's one of the better forums I've seen.
Just took delivery of a 2012 45th Anniversary, 2SS, RS 6-speed convertible.
What a cool car. I've had my share of toys, but this is the best bang for the buck in existance.
So far I'm happy with the stereo, seats, top and overall quality. A little disappointed with low-end performance, but it's only got 125 miles on the odo. Hopefully that will improve.
This weekend I plan on installing a K&N CAI and a Flowmaster axel-back.
Next is a ported TB.
No pics yet. Need to break out the camera.

Feel free to make suggestions, criticisms, etc.

With your help, I'm looking forward to a fun ownership.
Thanks
Bob

Welcome aboard!

What issues are you seeing regarding "low-end performance"? During engine break-in period it isn't uncommon not to have the full power available. Though if the dealer filled the tank with regular instead of premium gas that can impact performance right off. Let us know how it goes over the next couple tanks and if you continue to have difficulties perhaps we can come up with some suggestions.

Welcome, Bob! Thanks for making your first post in the vert forum.

Curious, what about the low end don't you like? I hear things loosen up after a few thousand miles. I've got 1,650 miles on mine and it goes like a scalded cat. Of course, it doesn't do anything if I floor it while in a high gear at low speed - and at first that had me fooled. But these things are built to do 155+ MPH from the factory, so if you match gears to speed the performance should scare you. So much that one *really* needs to be careful. If I were 17 again and had this car, I would really get in trouble. And I was a "good" kid.

But bang for the buck, oh yeah! Especially compared to the Mopar and Mustang, imho. Plus the Mopar has no drop top, that made the decision that much easier for me.

p.s. Glad you like the C5 forums. Lots of good people here, one visit and I was hooked.

Never thought of the lower octane gas for the initial fill-up. Doesn't surprise me that they would fill up with cheaper gas.
I was anticipating a little more neck-snapping speed in the 2-4000 rpm range. Last night I installed a K&N CAI and noticed an improvement in throttle response. Tonight the Flowmasters go on, then the TB.
Thanks for the insight.
Bob

Mine wasn't as snappy until around 1600-1800 miles. Rumor has it the engine comes alive at 5k.

Mine is at nearly 6K, and no real difference. It's been discussed before, but speed is subjective to the owner. For a lot of us, however, these cars have been a bit disappointing in the quickness department. They are heavy, and with large diameter and heavy wheels, the gear multiplication is poor, too. I'm hoping for a lower gear set down the road, like 4:11 type, but to do it now makes little sense: it voids the warranty and there reputedly isn't a good set out there that's been debugged.
