This is what I received from the dealer I am working with when I asked about allocations. I told him of all the order numbers people on the forum have. I was wondering why he couldn't place my order yet. Are some Dealers getting their allocations before others?

What you are looking at are preliminary order numbers.

We could put everyones preliminary orders in, but they will just sit there until your allocation is awarded. A preliminary order will only get built if there is an allocation. For example, I could have 50 preliminary orders in the order bank, but if I had an allocation of 30, then only 30 would get built. The other 20 orders would never get filled. I would hate to give someone false hope of getting a ZL1, knowing its possible that I couldn't fill the order. That's why we wait until the allocation is awarded.

This is totally correct.
But let me add to this. The 6 digit numbers that you see that the people have as in the official waiting list...
These members were to check to make sure the dealer was getting an allocation before they were added to this list.
Most all of the green portion that you see in the official list will turn into actual cars unless a member cancels.
We started the list very early and I would say over 2/3's of that list came in the same days as allocation number totals per dealer where given. With that being said, every dealer KNOWS how many allocated Zl's they will be getting if any. They just do not know WHEN the allocation or 6 digit number will be picked up to be filled towards an order. My guess is,all those GREEN numbers in the official list will start moving rapidly up to 2000; Order accepted by GM - this is getting "picked up", meaning your allocation came available. You sit at 1100 until your dealer has an open allocation, and status 3000, Order accepted by production control 3000, very very quickly once the new year comes. Some say production starts late Jan, Some say early Jan, Some say early to mid Feb. Irregardless of what physical day production starts on ZL1 you will start seeing these numbers go through sequence very quickly. Or it least thats how its supposed to work. As long as your dealer gave you his word that they have ZL1 allocation for YM 12 you are good to go. No worries there.

I would love to have a ZL1 but I just could'nt bring myself to pay over MSRP even if I had the chance. there is just something about that -that just says "bend over and your gonna like it" Convincing my wife we are going to trade the 11 SS vert on a 12 ZL1 is probably a bigger problem.

I work at a Chevy dealer and we have been allocated two zl1s. We have been punching in the order for mine since 12-1 and it still will not go through. Says the car is on restriction. :(
