I would only get the Vette if it was a 2008 or newer with the Z51 package. They made a lot of impovements to the Vette in 08. LS3, T6060, better steering to name the big ones. Not that the 05-07 base Vettes are bad. They'll still hang with or beat an 2010 Camaro SS.

I would say Camaro. GM has so many things you can do to this car to make it your own. Vettes are awesome but they all seem to look the same.

The minute you drive the Camaro away, it is a used car anyway. Once the novelty of the new release wears off, it'll be just another pony car.

Get the icon. I did. The best thing I ever bought for myself.

You are all making me think twice about selling the C6!

But its your decision...
I think I agree, I think I am buying a vette. They have a 2006 LS2 with 3000 miles for 30K.

Lets look at a 82' vette, probably still worth about 15K. 82 Camaro maybe $3000 :(

Those dissing the 05-07 C6 Z51's as being "poor" handling are crazy. Just for reference in one of C&D lightning lap comparisons the 07 Z51 vette outrun the Porsche TT, Audi R8, Lotus Exige, GT500 etc. It's still a very good performing car even compared to the newest sports cars out there and will greatly outperform even the new Camaro SS. Need proof? What did GM run at the Ring with a Camaro SS 8:19 or so? The 05 Z51 did it in 7:59......20 seconds faster with the "lowely" LS2

Now I don't think you can go wrong with either car, the Camaro is new, a vette is used for the same money. Kinda a toss up. But make no mistake, an LS2 vette is still the better performing car.

The LS2 Vettes are still faster than the LS3 Camaro's.

Faster is not better. Stop looking at numbers and think with your heart.

That's the unknown quantity. Numbers are fleeting.

I have been fighting the exact same demon inside my head.
Corvette=Awsome car. 2 seater sports car. Sweeping look. Absolutly briliant on a track.
Camaro=Kick ass 4 seater. Great styling, and quick in a straight line, not bad on a track.
The only reason i'm not going for the Corvette is because....... I would end up in jail faster. ha ha, and i am not going to want to go to a track to push its limits everyday. The Camaro on the other hand. You can still kick up some dirt and play around without drawing too much attention. Still get some, but the Camaro has more space and is just great looking.

Well, you're going to get nailed by the sac in terms of insurance if you go with the Vette, but hey, you'll still have a Vette. Take a look at what you're getting for the price, badges aside. You don't sound like you're buying a car for cool points, and even if you were you win either way. What C6s are out there right now that you could write a check for and be happy with the price, how are they optioned, and what feeling do you get about how they were driven? It's unlikely your C6 is going to have been rode hard and put away wet, and chances are the owner probably had a good idea of how to take care of his investment. Are you getting stuff you couldn't get in a Camaro? Is it worth the fact that it's a used car to begin with? Are you going to do anything to it, how much are tires, on and on and on...
But in the final view remember you're getting essentially the same engine in a lighter car with a higher cost of ownership (Vette vs Camaro) and less warranty. Sound confusing? It is. Sorry I couldn't be of any help :>

which car u think will make me happier in the long run? im gonna be going to drag strips every month and might take it around a speedway as well. i want comfort handling and looks which they both got. i dont really need the rear seats but they could come handy sometimes, but 2 seater works fine.

which car would you think is better?

btw if i get a C6 it would be a 2 yr. old one with low miles so it be about the same price as a new SS
Thank you, thank you for this thread !!!!

I bought a 2007 Corvette C6 ( Yellow ) with 8K for $32,000 04/18/09. I could not have made a better choice ! Car is bad.

I was thinking about getting a Camaro until I saw this thread, then I researched Corvettes. I love the camaro but these cars selling at sticker will tank in value in a year as already noted in this thread. Researching prices I find I can put double the miles on my new ( old ) Corvette and sell it for just about the same price I bought it for. Not to mention this thing is a pure race car, I can not put into words how a Corvette drives.

I did catch it needed to be a Z51, and she is

Most important any new Camaro owners want to trade for a day PM me I am game 100%, a camaro owner would not regret this ( well you may regret you got a Camaro, lol )

.
