2012 LS doesnt have SPORT MODE!?!?!

Yeah, so after trying all the things listed on the internet about how to activate sport mode, and nothing working I went to the dealership to find out the reasons.

The guy in the service department was just as surprised as me to find out that the 2012 LS A6 does NOT have a sport mode, OR a manual shift mode.

The "M" selection on the shifter just allows you to set the maximum gear range. ie, your going downhill and dont want the engine to shift past 4th gear.

Not only that, the 2012 LS has a 2.92 rear end.

Ive been all over these forums, and I had never heard of this, sorta disapointed, because i heard that sport mode was pretty fun:(

Don't worry about it. Sport mode is fun for the first week of having your car. After that, you never touch it. The car does the 1/4 faster in D than M anyway.

The LT and SS shift much more aggressively in Sport Mode than D (not tap shifting, shifting automatically in sport mode.) It's disappointing that this isn't on the LS, but you can have a Trifecta tune to adjust your shift points in D.

I'm completely aware what it does, I've had it for over 2 years.

sorry, it was not my intention to sound confrontational.

Sport mode has stayed fun for my father and I on his SS auto, but everyone's preference is difference.

That's something that is reason to add packages at the dealer.

If you could live without HUD, I'd seriously try to find a used 2010. In my opinion, everything except HUD has made the car worse in the later model years.

You'd save a boatload and could probably get a pretty nicely modded 2010 RS that's been very well cared for.

Had mine since August of 2009...I still use and enjoy sport mode/manual mode.

If you don't seem to think its all that great, I'm fine with that, but I have to say I feel bad for the OP because it is fun.

Running hard in sport mode and the tranny automatically holding the rpms at 4 or 5K RPM until it knows your no longer driving "sporty" is cool, and instantly throwing yourself back in the seat in 1st - 3rd gear without having to wait for a downshift is also fun.

I guess GM assumes that if you are buying a base model automatic, then you don't care as much about fun and performance. If you opted for the 1LS with the manual trans instead of the 2LS with auto, then you'd still have the 3.27 gears and a lot of fun. Too bad the jump to a 1LT auto is nearly 2k over the 2LS.

Guess it's a case of knowing what you are buying at each trim level...:(

Yeah, I mean who buys a Camaro and cares about fun and performance? not me
They should have mentioned something about the fact that "trim" level is no longer just about looks, and non performance parts.

Don't think so, tried both. M works great in the 1/4.

Hasn't trim level always made a difference in parts like this or gear ratios?

wow I use mine almost 100 percent, the only reason is to do that is to try and make everyone upgrade packages. The salesman failed in a big way by not mentioning it, IMO it is a big change to remove that from the LS package and should be explained to the customer.
