Right Rear Window Blind Spot

Hi everyone!

This is my first post on these boards. I just took delivery of a 2012 Camaro and am VERY happy with it. I have only one small complaint at this time. When I try to look over my right shoulder at the right rear area outside the car that is beyond the range of the right side mirror, it's like trying to look through a paper towel tube. I've adjusted the front passenger seat so none of it blocks that window. Any thoughts or suggestions?

Thanks!

Can you see your car in your side view mirrors?

As with any car, it doesn't take long to find out where the blind spots are. You'll be fine after a few hundred miles.

i have found that if you drive way faster than everyone else on the highway you can pass someone and move over, that way you know nobody is there. then there is never any blind spots!!

Buy the small lil mirrors and put them on ur regular mirror ... One or both sides is ur choice. But they really help with the blind spot

One thing about the Gen5 Camaro's is rear visibility sucks. Even with the backup sensors, backing up is scarey. Gotta use your mirrors more that's for sure. I've only had mine a few months, maybe I'll feel more comfortable backing up as time goes on.

As far as your picture goes, it's called an Avatar. Click on the "User CP tab at the top of this page. Choose custom avatar.

I adjust my outside mirrors so my field of view does NOT include the sides of my car. That gives me pretty good visibility of the typical blind spots.

My car is a '12 with the backup camera; it is very worthwhile in resolving the backup visibility problem.

Thanks for the lightning quick replies!

@Stieger - my right side mirror is adjusted with the side body just out of range on the left side of the mirror.

And thanks, Dave! Got the picture there now.

BTW, I've loaded a picture in my profile. How do I get it to show up in my thread ID?

Thanks!
If you set your mirrors correctly you won't have to break your neck to check blind spots. I check my mirrors and take a quick glance through the side windows and I'm good to go.

There's an article on C5 on how to set mirrors correctly. Takes some getting used to if you use to doing it the old fashioned way, but makes you a better driver overall.

It's not so much backing up that's the problem. It's trying to judge what's going on in the quadrant of right rear space that beyond the range of the side mirror that makes me a bit uneasy.

And a bit OT, but car delivered to a 2 state plate with NO WAY to attach a front license plate without chancy modifications?.....hmmmmm. I guess I'll have to see what happens if I get hassled by the police.

Set your mirrors properly and there is no need to look over your shoulder...your mirrors must be set up wrong.

For the drivers side, lean your head next to the window and adjust the mirror until you can just barely see the rear sholder. for the passenger side lean your head in the middle of the cabin and adjust the mirror until you can barely see the passenger side shoulder.

Waalaa!

Now when you pass cars or they pass you, you will see them moving out of the view of your rear view mirror and into the side mirrors seemlessly.

There are no side blind spots!!!
