will parts pass Cali's smog test
I was wondering how I can find out if my parts will pass California's smog test. I just moved out here and my baze stickers expire in 2014, and apparently I have to do the dam smog test to re register my car for base access out here. I have kooks 1 7/8 headers, borla high flow cat, and stingef exhaust. Along with a tune and cold air intake. I didn't know I'd have this damn issue in Cali, I should have gone to a different city, because I really dont want to remove my parts and I trashed my stock stuff.

Somebody can probably help you out with borrowing some stock stuff. You won't pass as it is.

ya, you wont pass with the headers and hi flow cats. Can you keep the car registered in the state you are originally from? I would try that, its a BITCH to get your car smogged out here....

The headers, cats, and intake won't pass the California visual inspection. In January of 2013 model year 2000 and newer vehicles are no longer required to get the Sniffer test so your good on that part. Just make sure you don't have any codes stored in the ECU because that's basically all they are looking for in the OBDII test. Just go to hole in the wall smog stations and slip the guy some extra cash to overlook the visual inspection.

YOULL NEED TO SWAP OUT YOUR CATS AND MANIFOLDS TO GET IT TO PASS MOST LIKELY, UNLESS YOU FIND A SYMPATHETIC TESTING PLACE. IF THEY PLACE THE SNIFFER IN THE EXHAUST, THE HI-FLOW CATS WONT BE GOOD ENOUGH TO PASS IT.
YOU MAY BE ABLE TO GET SOMEONE TO LET YOU BORROW THIER STOCK PARTS. PRETTY MUCH ALL OF US KEEP OUR STOCK PARTS OUT HERE.

the actual sniffer test should be fine. However as others have stated, the visual is a "no go". I've had several vehicles in Cali pass with flying colors with high flow cats.

Damn I wish I would have known that I'd have to do this stupid testing 2 years ago. I thought that having my car registeted in another state would keep me safe but apparently the military doesn't care what state my car is registered in and I'll probably have to smog test it eventually. I'm just going to milk my FL decals and keep an eye out for cheap parts or an awsome place to test my current stuff near san diego.
Thanks for all the info

Check with the base inspection station. Last I remember, they didn't care about the "visual" as long as you passed the sniffer.
