2008 Z06

Ladies and Gents,

I was very close to driving down to South Florida today and picking up a 2008 1LZ trim Z06, black with the grey wheels, no NAV and less than 7000 miles.

Why a Z06?
·sweet ride - fits my “likes” best next to the Camaro.
·power to weight ratio is really good from the factory.
·right approach to high performance – V8, BIG go-kart feel, low center of gravity
·mod-friendly
·Prices for used a used Z06 are ridiculously low, near 30%+ lower than original pricing for low mileage examples

Why 2008?
As I understand it, the 2008 was a full 2 production cycles away from the 2006 body and carbon fiber floor pan bugs and a little quieter than a 2007. The 2008 had a factory black interior piece to match the exterior. Also I believe the 2008 was the last year before the random valve train issues found in 2009 - 2011 due to “bad head” mills from GMs provider.

What stopped me?
The garage and driveway is full to the brim with all the daily drivers and various bikes... no where to park it!!!

The point?
I now understand why I must take that money and build a garage in the back yard now!!! LOL!
·Yeah, I know… “wha’-wha’-boo-hoo – tough decisions

Here’s a shot of the car…

That's an awesome looking Z. How much are they asking for it?

Looks mean.

Someone added a front splitter.

A new one costs ~$65k. Wouldn't pay $50k for a 5yr old car...

I did not notice the splitter, hmmm.
- I prefer the this particular 2008 over a new model.

Thanks for the response.

My buddy just purchased basically the same car for around 45K. It's insane. Don't drive it if you're happy with the Camaro

Just curious, what floor pan issues?

My guys developed and released the chopped carbon fiber floor panels when I was on the Corvette team. A nice touch that saved a few Kgs over the SMC over balsa wood core floor panels on the base car.

I never heard there were any issues.

The exhaust valve/valve guide issues have shown up in the 2006-2009 models so far unfortunately.

Sounds like you need a separate garage for all those stacks of cash.

Maybe it was the Basla OE, I'm sure there was something about it in 2006...

50k seems a little steep. I'm thinking around 45k for that one.
