Should I trade my v6 convertible for the ss
I started to have the problems that some people are having with their convertible top and I took it in to get fixed when I picked the car up from getting fixed it had little hole by the rear window and the back still looked a little loose so they said to bring it in again so instead of having to deal with this I was thinking of just trading it in do you guys have any advice

If you like the SS better than what you have now then buy it. Otherwise stand pat and love your car.

expect to take a 5 grand loss due to having a used car at least........on the trade in, be prepared to know your KBB figures for the trade in value in various shapes....excellent good etc and argue your case if neccessary it gave me thousands back from haggling...three thousand, they said its worth x I said I will walk.....Literally along with a swear word.....

If you trade it in, don't get a vert. IMO, they have many issues. At least from all the threads I've seen.

I traded my 2011 V6 2LT convertible for a 2SS after about a month because wind noise was unbearable. I did pretty good but still lost at least 4K but this was before GM would even admit to problems with the top and I couldn't stand the thought of endless repair trips while making a payment on a new car. I wish I'd have tried to lemon law it though. I wrote a letter to GM after the recalls came out but as you can guess that was a waste of time. Good luck, it's a crappy position to be in.
If you are caught up in the V8 vs V6 power envy trap I say don't be. In my opinion, unless you plan to race the car there's not that big if a difference regardless of what you'll read on here. Gas is also quite a bit cheaper for the V6 so keep that in mind in addition to the trade-in hit and lower gas mileage of the V8. Whatever you do don't get another convertible expecting it to be any better. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

With all the top problems they have, it is surprising that they sell any of them. All this time, and they still haven't done a fix. Obviously, they intend to leave vert owners hanging in the breeze

Do you know off hand if Convertibles are more noisy inside than hard-tops? I've always wanted a convertible but always decided against it because I assumed they were louder inside, that they stain easily, that a thief could easily cut it open, or that they would just become loose-fitting over time. Can you confirm if these are true or not?

to the OP, I'd suggest working with your dealer and GM on the top issues and get to know your states lemon laws. GM was very easy for me to work with after multiple failed attempts to fix the issues. They offered me a buyback that meant I didn't lose a single dollar on my 2012 and I was able to replace it with a 2013. This would probably be the best option for you as you will take a huge hit in a trade in.
