Should I buy this?

Hi gang,

I'm currently in negotiations to buy a car. It's a 2011 2SS red tin coat convertible with the RS package. It's got 12k miles, and I've been able to talk them down to 27k. It's got performance headers, cold air intake, and aftermarket exhaust.

The question is it was a buyback because the prior owner complained that the noise was too bad when the roof was up. They have fixed the issue, but there is a listing on the title of a lemon report.

The car is in warranty, and I plan to get a 5 year / 100k mile extended on top of this.

Would you buy the car?

(new to the forum, but lurking for a while, y'all rock)

sounds like a good buy if the problem is fixed. your resale value is the only thing hurt. so plan to keep it and you are good to go.

that's an AMAZING price if you're willing to deal with a possible top issue but if it truly is fixed holy crap JUMP

Thanks for the advice guys, the paperwork to buy her arrives in the morning. Out of state purchase, but I've seen pictures of every angle, and have had a local friend secretly go out and test drive her for me. Now to find a decent shipper from CT to SC

Why don't you fly there and drive the car back. I got mine in Dallas and I am from Chicago. Rather than having it shipped up, I decided to spring for two plane tickets for me and my dad and drive it back over the weekend. We had a blast.

With headers I'd check to make sure that it wasn't also tuned which will void the factory drive train warranty.

As long as you're comfortable with the branded title, go for it.

There were a number of California lemon returns that I looked at (misc electrical issues) and avoided. They were going for much cheaper than comparable cars with clean titles, but there's a reason for that.

Agree that it's a good price. As others mentioned askng as you are comfortable with the branded title and maybe being tuned.

It would also be in your best interest to educate yourself about all the top issues on the 2011's and other model years.

Read the fine print on your extended warranty. It probably doesn't cover the parts of the top that you may have problems with.

My 2011 was bought back because of top problems.

Good luck
