Gotta pull the dash, atleast with the 10's and i think 11's, I've had my dash out twice. It took me 50 minutes to remove it the last time.

for th 2012-2013 you do not have to pull the dash just take off the upper dash trim and there are some 7mm bolts, take those out and the whole ac duct will come out along with the leather or suede part

Is there a more easier way to get these pieces out without removing the dash? My car is a daily driver.

I'll probably take out the dash, but I seriously thought about seeing if a painter could use an airbrush on it. I just haven't gotten around to asking one if it's even possible to airbrush.
