I agree with most in that if the only thing stoping you is the price of gass its not a big difference, get the SS. As low as intrests rates are, I'm not sure why you would put half down.

I wish I had all the money I spent last year. I'd buy a house.

you don't have to run premium, you can run 87 in the SS, people over-exaggerate the difference between 87 & 93, it cant be more than 15 horses, If I had an SS I would save the $.30 a gallon an run 87.

Let me tell you..buying the SS with the V8 and running it on 87 octane will make the engine run rough. It will buck here and there, but sure, it will still run. The problem is, now that SS is only as fast as a stock V6 Camaro. Don't believe me? Tons of reports on here of exactly that. But you're right, it CAN be done. The better question is, why WOULD you? Youre paying a premium for the SS and V8 with 400hp(L99) or 426hp(LS3) which is rated with premium gasoline which will quite a bit lower then that with 87 in the tank. This will affect L99 cars even worse as they are already at a HP disadvantage.

Mine isn't a daily driver. It sits in the garage most of the time, so the gas prices don't effect me that much. I bought a 2ss convt. to enjoy on the weekends when I'm not working and the sun is shining. I don't regret it one bit.

Consider gas, tires, and insurance.
(This is where I'm oausing for deep reflection before answering) Regrets? I paid cash for a ZL1 because I wanted it and I could. Three weeks later I lost my very lucrative job. But no regrets. I love my car.

I don't regret not getting a 2SS. Four grand for leather, which I don't like, Boston Acoustic Sound, HUD, just look down real quick, and gauge pack didn't seem worth it; especially since I just added my gauge pack! DO NOT regret for a second getting a 1SS instead of a 2SS. p.s. The white "SS" badges look better on my car then the red ones anyway.

I purchased a 1LT 2010 2 years ago.
I definitely at the time, could not afford it. I was making minimum wage at the time and got WAY ahead of myself. Now, I make about 7 dollars more an hour then I was making 2 years ago, the car is WAY more affordable with the same payments two years ago. Only recently I have been thinking "I want more power" so I dropped about 3 grand on mods (Long tube headers/hiflowcats/CatbAck/CAI intake/Tune) and I also have ported intake manifold, black ice-olator, plenum spacer, ported throttle body on the way. Pretty much every bolt on that can go on a v6 The upgrades I have now have changed the car dramatically, sounds like a beast, runs amazing!. But still... It would NEVER be as fast as a V8, so I contemplated trading for an v8 camaro. I recently decided NOT too, but instead to run Nitrous as it was 1) Cheaper 2) More unique! If all goes well, my car should be 400+ RWHP, with the fuel efficiency of a V6... Sounds amazing in my books! |

No regrets regarding my purchase. I had to squeeze my budget to buy a Camaro. I could have got the 1SS and said "yeah I have a SS" but I've had my share of V8s and I wanted all the bells and whistles more than the V8. Running the quarter mile a second and a half faster isn't important to me.
