I thought that the Camaro's weight distribution was 50/50? On the spec sheet at the end of this article it sys the Maro's weight distribution is 58/42 same as the Stang.

VIDEO! Motortrend Drag Race between GT500 and Camaro SS!
At first I thought, "What a poor comparison." But Im suprised to see the Camaro did pretty well against the Shelby. 12.9 @ 111mph? |

Pretty sure it's heavier on the front end.

"Just as the Mustang GT is a lot closer to the Camaro SS than its horsepower difference suggests it ought to be, the Camaro SS is a lot closer to the GT500than you'd think."
Looks like the GT500 is the pure raw track car while the SS is the daily driver muscle. I'd say that's pretty accurate and where both manufacturers are trying to position their respective cars. At least they admit it makes more sense to compare it to the GT..... this from the same people who pit the ZR1 against a jet. |

besides, im sure the aftermarket is going to come out with some stronger, lighter suspension and body parts to replace some of the heavier components to lighten up the car Just right off the bat, i can see swaybars (but probably heavier for less roll and greter stiffness) IRS control arms, linkages ect, i can see some lighter stuff hear vs the stamped steel stockers. |

Well duh the GT500 destroyed the SS. That is like saying "OMG the GT500 destroyed a Mustang GT!!". If you want a fair race pit a stock SS against a stock GT and we'll see who wins. Just wait for the Z28...then we'll see how well the little GT500 holds up.

Yup, they said traction was a major issue with the GT500 stock rubber but not so with the Camaro. The Camaro made up the HP deficit there.

I love the ending, you get what you pay for, and in this case you pay an extra $580 per foot...
I'm impressed the camaro held up as well as it did!

I love how they state that it's not a fair comparison and the time they got out of the Camaro are very good. The one thing that was just awful for me was when they revved the engines. The Mustang sounded like a muscle car; the Camaro much less so...and I am referring to that rattle-can sound at the very end of the Camaro's rev.
