Need build date - Camaro5 Chevy Camaro Forum / Camaro ZL1, SS and V6 Forums

This is my first post and I am hoping I am doing it right. I need some help. My uncle who lives out west won a new 2013 Camaro 2SS convertible and wants to know if I wanted to buy it. Before I commit, I need to know the build date since the convertibles had a lot of rag top troubles prior to build dates of April 2013 . I want to become a part of the Camaro family, but do not want all of the problems. He gave me the vin number. The last 8 digits are D9236512.

If you check the label on the drivers side entrance, it will provide you with the month and year. Maybe have your Uncle send you a photo of the label.

Built after mine- and mine was built in February. Might be close.

Not sure about the the sequential numbering of things these days at Oshawa but the "2" in the last 6 digits means that it's at least 100,000 into the production run D9236512. In the vin sequencing 2=1 & 1=0. the 36512 is the actual number in sequence. So if 2013's have their own vin's then the actual number is 136512. If the vin's are shared between all the platforms (ie: Impala, Equinox, XTS & Regal) built up there then God (ie: Fbodfather) only knows.

I know about the issues with the '11s and some '12s, but what changed in April? Mine was built 12/06/12 and I haven't had any issues. If your uncle is close to the dealer it came from they can print him out a build sheet, or there's people on here who can do it. Either way you have to supply the vin#. Or as Comrando suggested, the label on the pass side frame rail should be within a day.

ok, i am looking at 13 2 LT vert. it was built in sept. 2012. been on dealer lot for a year. please tell me this car would have all of the updated improvements for 2013. the 11 and 12s had all the issues, but i heard the 13 were ok. the date of manufactuer on the door jamb is sept. 2012. is this ok? i was going to try to make a deal on this. thanks!!
