1000+whp build?

Hey guys I am looking at building either a gtr or an american muscle that can compete with a 1000 awhp GTR, since american muscle is so much cheaper.
Can the Camaro handle that much hp?

If you have the money, virtually anything is possible, so, yes.

Yeah of course but is it worth it? Is it going to cost more to build the Camaro to that level than a GTR? is it going to be reliable? Do we know the limits of the camaro block? What about the trans?

Absolutely. Throw in a G-Force rear, BMR suspension pieces and bushings, Hotchkiss chassis brace, Street Slayer twin disk clutch, replace the crap factory hydraulic clutch line, LSX454 and a F1 Procharger and 100lb injectors, and either a single serious fuel pump, or add an auxiliary fuel pump ...and YOU'RE THERE easily.

Good to know. one advantage over the mustang no replacement for displacement.
Any issues with the block at that level?

I don't think it's at 1000. But I love this car.

That can compete with a 1000 whp GTR - well, you need more than 1000 whp in a camaro then. The GTR is about the same weight, but has a better drag coefficient, and then it's awd so it will launch better from a stop (I'm assuming you are talking about a drag race here). To get over those problems you would be having to go higher than the same hp the gtr has. Why not go with a vet? Much lighter than a gtr, starts at 55,000 and much more aerodynamic than a camaro - you'd be in a much better position to win

NO. Parts for the GTR are insanely expensive. Like 3-4 grand for just an axle back exhaust.

The block should be good for that level, I have the factory LS3 block stroked out to a 416, Forged everything, ARP hardware, ect. We will see what it makes in a month or so. I have a big F1 with meth feeding it so it shouldn't be too hard.

It is 150k for the car and all parts and labor to be making 1200+awhp and running mid 8 second 1/4. Plus it will be 100% street trim, with street legal slicks of course.

Any ideas on the cost to build the Camaro?

No where near that. I spent maybe 20k on mine (no 9" rear end yet though) granted I also didn't need to pay for labor, and I'll be cracking the 1000rwhp mark.
