I probably should wait considering my down payment, by the time release date comes, will probably not have accumulated perhaps even half the total cost.
Anyone not planning to put down much for a down payment?
You're right byebyeImports it was like that for me at first but one never knows what things are like a year into the future with finances. I originally had in mind to have $15,000 as a down payment but had to direct some funds out. So while the madness happens the first couple months of the Camaro release I'll save up a little more money and bring my beast home just before Summer.

Current lease ends May of '09 so what ever is the best model I can order at that time is what I am getting. I am told they will extend up to 6 months with the current contract if I have an order contract with GM, 3 months without an order. Other time periods will depend on market conditions but the dealer tells me usually outside of these terms they hit you so thats when I am buying.

I'm working for about half that amount. I'm contemplating selling my 4th Gen. so I can pay off some bills and save for a 2010-2011 model. I hate to be without it, but admittedly, I loved the 5th Gen. the first time I saw it; that wasn't the case for either of the 4th Gens. I've had. I still love my '02, almost more than anything, but the new one is way more car than this one started out as.

I'll be waiting as long as it takes me to save up enough to afford one.

But at or near the time of launch, don't you think there will at least be some indications of higher models? When I got my GTO I almost waited because a 'Judge' was purported to be on the horizon. It obviously never materialized for some reason (I think because Pontiac could see that the current model was only going to be produced for three years due to some regulation or another), but the rumors were there.

I am thinking about buying the 400+ HP model that is released in March 09, and then wait to see what comes out after. If they release a SS/RS/Z28, I can always trade it in.

I'm deciding between the SS and the Z28, I just hope the wait isn't too inconvenient. There's just something about being the first guy on the block, or in town for that matter, with the sweetest ride.

Waited long enough... 400hp is more than enough power for me.

I'm expecting to have about $15,000 to put down.

Man, I was seriously thinking on getting an 01' Firebird conv. but I think I'll just hold out for the v8 Camaro conv. The sad part is that I'll have to wait probably near 2010 since the convertible is coming out a bit later.

Man, I hope the mpg is not bad though. The firebird's mpg is 14/21. Yall think the v8 Camaro is gonna be better or worse?

Yup Jose, the v8 Camaro will definately be way better than 14/21, you're gonna bang your head if you decide on the firebird instead. :bangdesk:

Not to mention:
First year they reintroduced the z06 in 2001. It came with 385 horse then in 2002 was bumped to 405.
The GTO, which was reintroduced with 350hp then 400 the next year.
The SSR was introduced the same way as the gto, 350 hp to 400 the next year.
That's just off the top of my head.
