sorry, i just had to get all that out. i got my #'s from howstuffworks.com
Well if we're going to talk facts, not all SS Camaros in '69 were 375HP, there were 4 engines available as regular production in SS, 350/295HP, 396/325HP, 396/350HP and 396/375HP. I think you'll find that your numbers are different if you look at ALL SS engines.

Just to put the numbers in perspective from '67-'69: '67 SS-34,411 Z/28-602, '68 SS-30,695 Z/28 7,199, '69 SS 36,309 Z/28 20,302. Total for first gen. SS 101,415 Z/28 28,103. My experience driving on the streets back in the day backs that up, people didn't look twice at a SS as you saw them everywhere. Z/28s (myself included) turned heads, often got stopped and asked about them as they were seldom seen.

If a new Z/28 is offered and it is a total performance package (more like the first gen. Z/28), then that's what I'll go for. If the new SS is the total performance package, then I'll go that route. I don't really care which one is top dog, I just want ultimate handling along with the HP.

This really is starting to irk me, because I want the top dog, but the wait is already so long. I just really hope they release it at the beginning. I think that would be the best for them anyway. So many people want them.

All right, someone who knows what they're talking about. But don't forget the 427 COPO car too.

The reason I did not list the COPO is because it was not RPO and I was talking about regular production. If I were to mention every one made I'd also have to include the '69 ZL1 Camaros of which there were 69 built.

I really don't know a great deal about the Camaros history other than my friend owning a couple of 3rd gens. And since I may not get much choice regarding model, I'll have to see what's offered in 2010. I DO look forward to watching you guys buy yours and get a feel for what they're like early on.

Hmmm...you say this with such certainty. You are either expressing your hopes or are saying you know this to be FACT because........

Well Tag, look at his name.
I think I'm ok with the SS being Top Dog, so I can just take my Z28 home right away. I say that with all uncertainty.

I still believe that GM will offer their "top dawg", at least in limited supply, at release. They know how long we have been waiting and I don't think they would release it without letting us know that if we want the performance model we should wait.
