Fuel pump wiring
I thought that I needed a new fuel pump as I did not hear it engage when the ignition was turned over. When I went to disconnect the black protected line from the fuel pump to its connection behind the rear seat I found that they were not attached.
I reconnected the two and the car runs, pump is fine. This is where the problem lies. The piece that is mounted to the car has a clip that holds the fuel pumps connector into place; this is broken, thus the two do not stay together. I removed the carpet from the interior rear seat and found where the connection is. However it appears to be rivet welded into place. Couple of questions. What is the part called that I am specifically looking to replace? Is it an entire wiring assembly or is it simply an all weather connection that needs to be swapped? Do I have to pop the rivet welds to replace broken connector? 1992 RS 3.1 4speed auto. Any help is appreciated. |

My first thought is to use a zip tie to hold the connection together.
If the clip on the harness is broke then you probably need to locate and new one. I would call http://www.hawksthirdgenparts.com/ca...6-Accessories/ and see if they have one. If you talk to Bruce Hawkins himself you may get better info than i can offer. Also try www.thirdgenranch.com. Call them on the phone if you don't see what you need on there website. I also wonder if a Racetronix hotwire kit would cure your problem too. http://www.racetronix.biz/index.asp?...FromFeatured=1

The zip tie came to my mind also, but the connector is flush with sheet metal, no way to get behind it. I'll look into these links you've given me though. Thanks

Maybe try thirgdgen.org. You can't be the first person this has ever happened to.
