sound difference with just High Flow cats added?

how much of an increase in sound volume would I expect from just high flow cats? like the sound of my Retro cat back but could stand for it to be a slight bit louder, would High flow cats give me a slight sound increase with out CEL and tune being needed?

guaranteed it will get louder! as for the cel being thrown, it's a hit & miss. my high flow cats threw a cel, reset them, they still threw again. i will need a tune to disable it.

Better sound, yes! CEL throws seem to be hit and miss from different users. From what I've seen SOLO HF Cats with O2 extenders seem to be the better option for no CEL. Not to say that others have more issues or SOLO has none. It just seems that the users with SOLO's have had less problems. As long as they aren't throwing CELs no tune is needed.

Had JBA's on mine, just the right sound increase IMO.
With CAI, Apex scoop, VMAX, and JBA cats my car's dyno numbers were 368/370 factory cats, 391/393 with JBA's. Same dyno.
And just like huitt06 mentioned, after one year with the high flow cats I now have ARH long tubes and cam...

Here's a couple videos to maybe give you an idea of the sound change...

Stock cats, Dynomax #39494 Axleback, resonator and X-pipe delete
http://youtu.be/vPAhHGwcfoo

High flow cats added to the same combo from above
http://youtu.be/Z6ncc-CQLOo?t=11s

I did experience some rasp, most likely because I removed the resonators, but I don't know if even the factory ones would have cured it. I think a Magnaflow resonated X pipe would have helped a lot.

Definitely a noticeable sound increase. Really woke up my Solo Mach-X exhaust I already had installed. I just took my Solo HFCs off to install Pfadt Tri-Y headers and if anything my car is now just a bit quieter than it was before with the HFCs. All in all, the Solo HFCs are a great mod if you want power, sound, and able to retain factory warranty with no CEL.

If you have an LS3, I'm selling the HFCs off my car

The Solo hi flow cats on my car with the npp exhaust deepened and increased the exhaust sound some. I installed the Magnaflow resonated X pipe on mine also. I did have a problem with a CEL, but after adding another O2 sensor spacer it has not come back. At least so far.

Mine is loud enough as it has the stock manifolds, Solo HF cats, and the Solo Mach XL cat back.

Am I understanding you correctly; are you actually saying that your car was LOUDER with the factory manifolds and High Flow Cats, than it is with PFADT LT Headers? Are you running High Flow Cats with your LT Headers? Seems backwards from what most people claim and describe?
