No mention at my dealer today

Just offering this as an additional data point:

I took my Camaro in to my local dealer today, for an unrelated warranty repair (power driver's seat). No mention was made of this recall. (I'm in the group that prefers to keep the current key.)

They had to special-order a new seat frame, so I'll have to return to have it installed. If they mention the key recall when I take the car back in, I'll report back here.

So has anyone received their car yet we bought the car the day of the recall so couldn't leave dealership with it , the manager said she would just have us a straight key cut until the new key was out her boss didn't allow this and they have not told us when we will be able to get the car now they don't call us back since I have heard of a couple dealerships sell and release the vehicle (wondering how they are doing it)

Also asked while I can't get my car and it's sitting there doing nothing if they could install 3.91 gears they quoted me $1500 I figured it would be a little higher at the dealership but that's ridiculous I could get them done all day at independent shop between $500-700 anyone else have them do it at dealership.

At a dealershop right now and there's a stop sale on a lot more than the Camaro. They're pissed cos theyre losing business to other manufacturers cos people shopping right now arent gonna wait indefinitely until their car is released; after signing papers ... so they go elsewhere

And even more amazing that it's such a deal-breaker for so many people.

Are you guys buying/driving a car that needs a key . . . or a really expensive key that includes a car as a mandatory no-cost option?

Sheesh.

Sheesh.

Norm

Pulling out the key like a deranged dentist and not even filling the gap left behind is absurd.

We will still love our cars but will shake our heads at how this is handled.

Could be worse, your car could just fall apart structurally. But it would never make headlines because it's a BMW:

This happened to pretty much all M3 verts after enough mileage. Not a "sometimes, rarely" thing, a "better fix it soon" thing.

This was the same era that M3's were blowing up their engines and BMW was blaming the owners. OPPSS!!! BMW Engineering and Quality Control was to blame for both M3 screw-ups ...

Now that's something to think about. Glad I'm not in those shoes. But if I were, hmmm, I'd be really nervous about waiting. That's a huge Red Flag, I can't take my new car home??? WHAT??? I'd probably back out of the deal and say I'll wait till they get their act together. Maybe I'd end up taking my business somewhere else. Not sure what I'd do, because I bought a Camaro because I Wanted a Camaro. And it's not a daily driver so it's not like I needed it. Wow...... I'd be pissed to say the least and my confidence in them would be shot.

even worse ... even if you want to buy one and wait, there's no test drives allowed either. Talked to the Parts guy and he said they're so busy with the previous ignition recall that they're not even on to the Key only recall on the Camaro ... also, no loaners either! its a mess!
