Why is it never clean?

This is a public service notice in case anyone here is EVER foolish enough to buy a black, Dodge, Challenger.

So a month ago I bought my wife a Challenger for our 25th anniversary. Here's what I have learned detailing it.

It's never clean. It has a magnet that attracts dirt. You can give it a full detail and the 15 minutes it takes to put away your equipment, the car becomes totally filthy, just sitting in the driveway.

Although it looks a "little" bigger than a Camaro. The Challenger is really the size of a Greyhound bus. I had to buy a friggin' step stool to do the roof.

And finally, even though I use the same products and techniques on the Challenger that I do on my Camaro, it just never looks as good. It always looks a bit streaky.

Sorry for the rant.

Black is the classiest color but a difficult color to keep clean.

My 2010 Camaro is the first and last black car I will ever own. I wanted a red Camaro but the Victory Red just didn't look right to me so I bought black. I have been fighting to keep her looking clean and swirl free for years now and have decided to throw in the towel on her. Picking up my Red Hot 1LE in 3 days and can't wait to have a new color car to clean.

I used Nano wax on mine and nothing stuck to it, pretty slick stuff. On the Zl1 I did the Opticoat 2.0

Love my black Camaro, but like the OP said, geez, I get it clean and pretty, walk inside to get a drink, come out 10 minutes later and IN THE DRIVEWAY the car is filthy again!!

First and most likely last black car.

I suggest just driving at dusk and night, looks PERFECT at that time

When I entered my classic car in shows, I used to see this problem all the time. Not on my car... its was never nice enough.

But I remember one very glum 1969 Camaro z/28 owner who was selling his car. he was selling it because it was over-restored and he couldn't enjoy it any more. He spent all his time with a duster, getting dust off it. The car was gorgeous. But it was too nice. He had to keep up the pedantic detail work in order to compete at shows, so he couldn't drive it. Anywhere. The paper tags on suspension parts would get damaged. Inspection marks would get dirty. Heaven forbid a bird flew near it. It was as close to the holy grail of '69 z/28s as I've ever seen and the man had screwed himself by accident with it- it was a second job and the car owned him.

I'll never forget his frowning, unhappy face as his car got filthy just by sitting in the summer sun- every speck of dust on the planet seemed to end up on his car. Cars can be too nice.
