Protective stickers?

What's the deal with these clear... corner protectors in the doors? Mine has this weird black buildup that makes it stand out. Are people peeling these off? What purpose do they serve? They're in a weird spot to protect from rocks. Not sure if I can even clean it or if I need to replace it now.

If it's got crud trapped behind it, pull 'em off. If you want to replace them you can buy the protective tape and cut it to fit. Could even make a pattern off the old ones after you peel them off...or just let them off.

Same here! That's the first thing people comment on when they look at my car. "What's going on with your door jam there?" I've determined it's just dirt and road grime that's accumulated underneath the sticker. At first, I thought my door was STRIKING that part of the body and was rubbing the paint off - but it's not even close. I'm thinking about peeling them off.

So I looked around online to try and find an answer and the only thing I found was that it could be there to protect the paint for when people get in and out of the back seat. I've never tried to get in the back seat but I can imagine the back of one's shoe rubbing up against that area. Perhaps I'll try it tonight. :-)

Okay, here's the remedy for that, remove and replace with a clear bra piece for the gill area and wrap it inside the door jam to replace the little nasty. If you have 19" (super sport or bigger)wheels, you will get chipped paint in the gill area
