Lost to stock 5.0, should I feel bad?

Of course there's always going to be someone out there that's faster than you on any given day.

But I just put on my LT Headers (no tune yet) and Cold Air Intake.

Raced a friend's stock 2011 5.0

I drive an L99, and he has the MT 82 (manual transmission) and otherwise stock 5.0

I got him from a dig without problem, around 70-80 he started pulling on me and we stopped around 110 where he had a full car length on me.

A tune is in order! But jeez, is it the weight difference?

Dont feel bad..they are quick...this my cheer you up....my l99 against a 2011 gt with exhaust.. cai...and 373 gears.

Dude, do not feel bad! Those new coyote 5.0's are no joke and are faster stock than an l99 or ls3.

Not to down play your driving but that 5.0 had to of had a terrible driver for it to be that far gone right off the bat. That or you are a PRO!

I have lost to him many times...it doesnt show it but he is right on my bumper...and he can drive. I tried to video every race that day...it would have shown him beating me...but my ipad was giving me trouble.

I've won to every 5.0, I'm mostly stock apart from NPP, jba midpipes with high flow cats, cai, and muffler deletes. I have the LS3 however.

2011 1SS LS3 stock against stock 5.0 vert. I win everytime.
added LT's and a tune against stock 5.0 coupe 50-50 so far.

Damn good match up for our cars.

So then an LS3 conversion wont really do much for me except make room for a future cam right?

I'm guessing from here my focus should be:

1. Tune
2. Ported throttle body
3. LS3 conversion
4. Mild cam? (It's my DD and I don't want something aggressive)

I beat 5.0s with my semi stock SS. I've only spent like $1500 on mods. I believe I was beating 5.0's bone stock by half a fender, now it is a half to a full car length depending on if the guy can drive. I think with an LS3 conversion, tune, and LT headers, you should walk a stock 5.0 easily.

Damn, not this again. I ran plenty of stock 5.0's and lost every time (im being honest) when I was stock. My car dyno'd 370 to the rear stock and I am a damn good driver.

After my mods (little head porting, healthty cam, long tube catless headers, c.a.i, damn good tune) I can walk them fairly easy. I guess others had the lucky factory freak models

I wouldn't feel too bad. My M6 with cai headers and tune barely beat a slightly modified 5.0 by 1 car.

You lost to a car that makes 25hp more and weighs 350 pounds less. I don't think you should feel bad at all. You should've lost. If you would've won I would've felt bad for him!
