SPEED INC.-Zach's 2010 Camaro SS TVS2300 Flex Fuel Results!

This week we had the opportunity to work on Zach's 2010 Camaro SS LS3 M6. His build consisted of a Magnuson Cog-driven TVS2300, Lingenfelter GT9 cam package, ARH off-road Long tube headers, ID850 injectors, Squash fuel system and a DSX E85 Flex Fuel conversion. On pump 93 octane the car made 595RWHP/554RWTQ and on E85 the car made an impressive 678RWHP/613RWTQ!

Do you have to get a tune for the flex fuel conversion or does the ECM take care of it?

Yes the tune has to be modified.

Would you have to swap tunes everytime you used one or the other?

From my understanding it adjust it's self on the fly through the octane calibration sensor. So one tune is suppose to cover 91-93, straight e85 & a mixture of 91-93 with e85. If I'm understanding right.

I wanted to ask was the hp gain through just tuning for E85 or was there also a pulley swap also? I'm about to do a conversion for flex fuel as well & was wondering how much more power I could expect with e85 & tuning alone.

No you don't have to swap tunes. That is the whole point of flex fuel. The car detects it, and adjust fuel/timing based on ethanol percent. The factory ECU does not have this feature enable or any of the tables filled out, so your tuner needs to turn it on in the tune, then fill in the tables. Once they are setup, just sit back and enjoy. Fill up with anything from pure gas to E100. If you just plug a flex fuel sensor in, the car won't even know it is there until you enable it in the ecu.

Got it thanks for the info

What was the PE lambda (or GM PE if you prefer) and timing on the corn?

Nice. Hopefully i get the same gains when i install the flex fuel sensor i bought. Even a 50rwhp gain is impressive for a simple fuel swap.

Can you please take a picture of how you did the plumbing to incorporate the sensor Tony?

DSX kit is plug and play, no plumbing to deal with.

The part in my hand is the dsteck sensor. The plug n play ones for cts-v's have plumbing already done. Dave said he doesnt have a drop in for the camaro, just a general pigtail version. I take it that it wont be tough but im just curious of those that have done it.

I stopped progress on my install since i did an impulse booking of several vacation trips out of country lol. So i probably wont finish up e85 conversion till december.

One thing not mentioned is that if its tuned for just E85 alone it will make more power than tuned to run on 93 octane and E85. Plus if its E85 only gas mileage is a lot better as well.

Usually needed are Bigger injectors for it's what 30 something percent less efficient? As well as better/bigger pump for the Zl1 pump isn't enough anymore!

Would I be close estimate to say it would cost this...$3200. to $3600 (if your all ready making 600 RWHP)

tune $500
Injectors 105 or 115 $1200
Fuel pump 1000 to $1200
Flex Fuel sensor $180.00
Labor 5 hrs $500
