Fly Cutting Pistons

Hey guys im looking to get a LG G6X3 cam and im having my heads ported by BO WHITE a couple months ago and he is holding on to them for me until he comes down on vacation for the 4th of july. I want to mill them down for more compression but ill have to fly cut the pistons from what im reading.

Has anyone done this? Where can i rent the cutting too? And is there anyone in North FL area the could help?

Thanks
Zach

2010 Camaro SS (LS3) Ported Heads, FAST 102, NW 102 TB, LG G6X3 Cam, Innovate ethanol guage for flex fuel (e85/e93) all waiting for install when i get back from this deployment.

I have l99 so can't give much help but can tell you that from what I've read the ls3 pistons don't have much room to cut into

LS3 pistons are different than l99. You can buy fly cutters that are drill operated and center off of the valve guide. Check out Lindy tool co. They are not very expensive.

I wouldnt waste the time. A slight bump in compression at the expense of having to flycut isnt worth it IMHO. all that headache and effort for 5-10hp.

It's the 5-10 HP for this and 5-10 for that and a few more from this that wins races.

Two different engines. Less compression on the L99 and it has exhaust valve reliefs for variable valve timing so sometimes when fly cutting is required on an LS3 it is not with the L99
