Question on header wrap or coatings
Ok so I'm putting turbos on my car. I honestly don't want to wrap the heads just because it makes everything a bitch to work on and hold's moisture.
My question is. Can i send my headers off to get coated to keep heat down over wrapping them? Also what is a good place to send my headers to, to get them coated.

I'm sold on coated headers. When I had them on my GXP I could put my hands on them within minutes of cutting the engine off.

Jet-Hot is one...I would do both...ceramic coat header both inside and out...then instead of wrapping just create a jacket using thermal material and secure with metal zip...keeps engine bay temps down...peace out...

I had mine coated several months ago by Calico Coatings. Less than $300 not including shipping.

Coating is a great way to go if done by a company that knows what they are doing . From the looks of your pic , it looks like you need to remove the header to get the valve cover off . That could be a real pain in the ass.

both are good, but coating wont help as much as wrap. Turbo parts are a lot hotter than headers

Never wrap headers on a street driven car. Moisture gets under there and with all
that heat it cooks the metal and the metal cracks and falls apart and there goes your header warranty.

coat the headers and use the header blankets with the stainless ties to hold the blankets in place!

Correct me if I'm wrong but i thought you couldn't have headers in a turbo car. It seems everyone uses their stock manifolds.

You can't use a typical bolt on NA style header on any of the good kits. That doesn't mean there isn't headers made that will work. There is plenty, but since stock manifolds have made 1600+rwhp it seems silly to put a part that cost $1000 and is less reliable.

I would get them coated for sure. I would not wrap them..it traps heat and cooks the welds.
