Chemical Guys - Costco

Never heard of these guys until I bought my Camaro this week.

Found this on Costco:

Chemical Guys 13-piece Car Wash Bucket with TORQ Foam Blaster

Kit Includes:
1. Heavy Duty Detailing Bucket (4.5 gal) with Cyclone Dirt Trap Insert
2. TORQ Foam Blaster Foam Wash Gun
3. 16 oz-Honeydew Snow Foam Auto Wash
4. 16 oz-Butter Wet Wax
5. 16 oz-Silk Shine Sprayable Dressing
6. 16 oz-Signature Series Window Cleaner
7. 16 oz-Diablo Wheel & Rim Cleaner
8. Waffle Weave Streak Free Drying Towel
9. Short Handle Car Care Brush
10. Applicator with Hex Surface
11. Scratch Free Chenille Wash Mitt
12. 3 Professional Grade Microfiber Towels

$69.99

Saw a Chemical Guys video, and the guy was showcasing a new bottle, so guessing this is an old kit?

Chemical guys is substandard stuff, IMO.....They make a few ok products, but most of their stuff is just so so. Stick with Meguires, carpro, Ultima, blackfire, optimum, duragloss, pinnacle, etc.… To name a few......

Chemical Guys has some excellent products, and some junk. Honeydew Snow Foam and Silk Shine Dressings are excellent. Diablo and butter wet wax are junk. Use the butter wet wax on windshield for RainX type protection.

The mitt, brush, bucket and gun are excellent.

CG polishes and compounds are junk.

Excellent CG products include:
all of their soaps, especially Citrus Wash & Gloss
all of the interior dressings
Grime Reaper APC
Nonsense APC (for zero scent)
WipeOut Surface cleaner for removing polish
Pad Cleaner
Microfiber Detergent
Pete's 53 carnauba wax
Orange fatty drying towels
Fabric Cleaner
Stain Remover

Glass Cleaner is average

I really like their air fresheners, they don't smell cheap.

They change bottles a lot but the stuff inside is the same.

Was speaking to the pressure washer bottle. I have been seeing that the bottle plays a decent hand in getting a good foam.

I use Meguires mostly, but in the past have used Zaino.

Looking into this foam cannon stuff and CG seems to be all over this forum.

Oh yeah that is an old foam gun, but the only difference is the new quick connect is a little smoother. I have both of them and they function the same.

I used to use a lot of Chemical Guys because they gave me a nice wholesale discount. They ended the discount so now I just use the products of theirs that work best for me.

What options are out there, beyond CG for a foam cannon?

Also, does it matter what soap you use? Will it give the same foam result (I mean Meguires vs CG stuff)?

Quality of foam varies widely in soaps. Honeydew is the best i have tried.

PoorBoys World Foam Shampoo is good too.

Adams is good stuff, good videos....But I don't buy signing on to one manufacture and buying everything from them. Most manufacturers make some really good stuff and make some stinkers. It's better to pick and choose via reviews But I will usually buy the polish and the last step product from the same manufacturer, as I think they are synergistic.

I think Adam's is expensive. If I were going to stick with one product line, I would go with Meguiar's.

Doesn't seem like a bad deal. A bucket, grit guard, mitt, foam gun, tire sponge, brush and towels alone will get you close to that retail price. So if any of their actual chemicals in that kit are worth keeping, it seems like a decent buy.
