Cat-back exhaust options

What are some options for our cars? Z/28's were limited, it seems like there aren't as many options for our cars compared with SS and ZL1 models.

I have a heads and cam car, ARH long tubes w/cats going to a stock exhaust. Was thinking about switching out the exhaust.

Good bit of options out there. Many keep the cat back even with heads/cam/headers... the existing cat back sounds and performs well. Is your fused pulled for NPP?

Agreed, this is the exact setup I went with, no need for Cat-Backs when OEM is already perfect especially with a set of good O/R Headers ( I went with KOOKS 2X3in O/R headers). It sounds mean as hell.

OP, just get a set of good headers, your 2 options are either American Racing or KOOKS. Personally I bought mine during KOOKS Black Friday/Cyber Monday sale, instead of paying almost $1850 with shipping, I got them for just a little over $1450 with Shipping. Black Friday is just around the corner too! even if you still want to go ahead and get your Cat-Backs they mark those down at KOOKS too during those sales. Hope that helps you a bit!

All the ZL1 systems will fit your Z28. Stop by our site and shop around with coupon code CAMARO5 and you can't go wrong. Check out the Stainless Works CA12CB (retro chambered catback) that has been a top seller for a while. Also check out the Corsa and Borla ZL1 set ups.

Is the OEM exhaust clamped / can it be removed in sections?

I'm in the process of doing the same thing. Mine will be for Z/28 1-7/8" header and off road (no cat) connection pipe kit, using the stock muffler. Will get tuned after installation. I'll keep ya posted with video once it's done.

Little by little will modify my Z.
1) exhust
2) intake manifold
3) cam swap

Was looking for some input on an exhaust as well. I have a 2010 SS and I was considering the Flowmaster Outlaw Cat-back. Does anyone have any experience with this system?

I would jump over to the 6th Gen forum as well - lot of exhaust information on the ZL1 threads

Seems Corsa is the got to choice for cat back with the least drone with LT headers and great sound.

Good luck finding the right sound.

I have the mild to wild switch. It's always "OFF" so essentially the fuse is pulled. Although I'm not totally sure because I have tried the system in "ON" and have not noticed a difference in loudness and tone.

The stock exhaust is pretty solid, especially when at higher revs it sounds pretty good. I have ARH long tubes, cam and heads. I'd like to hear the cam more with a deeper/throater idle.

I had ARH headers on my stock LS1 2002 SS with SLP loudmouth exhaust. The car sounded badass. I might be just nitpicking as the stock system does sound pretty sweet too.

Already have ARH long tubes. I'll try to find a clip on Youtube of a Z/28 I heard that sounded awesome at idle.
