how many times can you grind the gears before you have problems. i am a new driver and usually just at the last second grind them. i have put 400 miles on and done it 4 times

I've grinded mine really bad on the runway before trying to get max speed on switches, i need a throw shifter. It smelled horrid for a while but still is fine (And trust me you didnt do what I did). You'll be fine just learn to shift over time and don't stress it (or be dumb and do what I did).

But yeah... i'm sure mine has lost some years off it's life before i fix that part.

Yours sounds like a clutch issue... Grinding gears won't make a smell. I'd keep an eye on it.

yea as soon as i hear it i obviously do all to stop it. I usually push the clutch in and throw it into neutral and quit giving it the gas. i think it just sounds worse than it really is
