PORTED THROTTLE BODY and INTAKE MANIFOLD

Has any one had their throttle body or intake manifold ported?

How much does it cost?

Do you need too re-tune?

Could you tell a big differance in power / throttle response / dyno ?

There's been a few threads on this in the past.

The biggest benifit seems to be improved throttle response. Some guys have reported gains, while many others have reported little or no gains in HP.

I know two guys locally (L99s) that made very little (not really measureable) on the dyno, but they swear by the improved throttle response.

Here's a write up by Texas Speed. They made about 3hp with a ported intake and throttle body on this car.

http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showth...xas+speed+dyno

I think the gains will be better on the LS3's vs L99s.

They are both worth about 4-5 hp a piece if ported properly. If you port the intake throttle body incorrectly, it will throw off your idle tune and the the throttle transition off of idle (per my hubby, Darin Morgan)

I'm going with Fasterproms http://www.fasterproms.net/index.html ported intake and throttle body. I figure with the mods I'm going with, (Kooks lt's, hi-flo cats, Fastlane cai, Comp Cam, Texas Speed underdrive pulley) I want the car to "breathe" as smooth as possiible. Like others have posted, the HP gains alone may not be much, but for the money, I figure it can only help.

I had a ported intake installed and dyno'd by Jannetty and gained zero hp. Ted tried several different things to make hp with no luck.

It was a waste of money for me on my set up (LT's, ADM race, and tune). I'm back to my stock intake now with only my 412whp...

Just thought I'd share.

I had both of these things done to mine at ADM I know people post up about 7/8 hp gains the most noticable thing I have felt the difference is the throttle response

My question is, like Shorty's, are they just saying 7-8hp gain because that's what the guy that sold it to him said he would gain? Nino's post is what we like to hear. A REPUTABLE shop shows X gains from a part or service. More posts like that and we can get a average. So far, the DOCUMENTED average seems to be ZERO. If there were casting edges or something along those lines, I could see smoothing them out would be beneficial in the long run.

Perhaps with heads and a cam you might yield hp?

In a few weeks my car goes in for cam, headers, etc. Along with those upgrades I will be doing the ported intake and throttle body. With doing the porting I am not expecting any HP gaines but hoping for an improved throttle response. If that happends I will be very happy with this piece of the puzzle.

Andy @ Adm told me expect more throttle response than Hp Gain and that I did for sure.

She is more responsive and quicker on top of that.

imo doing these two mods are a good bang for the buck and im not gonna say do something when it does work.

I was never told you gain HP as I was told you gain throttle response !!!!
