This is where I decided to go with a New Era Performance. I was looking for most power with no tune. The tune will come sometime after warranty.

And you will get the best throttle response with the coldest intake air temp with our kits as well, as tested by multiple independent shops...

Those are the results from the last Jannetty CAI test. Same car, same day, same equipment. As far as side-by-side comparison goes, it doesn't get any better than that.

Volant has aquired sort of a bad reputation for setting off the CEL on this forum. It did it to my 2010 SS L99.
When I got my 2011 SS LS3, I still had the Volant from my other car and liked the way it worked and was made. I enlarged the center hole in the MAF supplied gasket so the sensor seats on the tube, I unhooked the battery when I installed it,and, no problems. Also, I made sure the screws were short enough to completely snug down the MAF senser, since none were provided with it. I have been driving about 1000 mi. with it on,axle back Magnaflo, muffler exhaust, and no tune. The air box is very heavily constructed and insulates well, also all the air comes from the front of the grill, creating a ram effect as you drive faster. I personally, am glad I gave it anothet try. Some had mentioned bumps in the tube possibly causing turbulence for the MAF, but the bumps are below the sensor and don't affect the air flow going through the component. |

I went with Cold Air Inductions. Very easy install and noticeable pickup in horsepower. Tune not required.
Given that this version is enclosed on top, it would seem to do a better job of keeping hot air around the engine out. Most of these don't seem to be true cold air intakes and rather just less restrictive intakes since they are open on top. |

I dont now, the more I look at the Airaid the more I like it
The box is closed surround except for the washer hole, its very smooth inside the box, has a big tube and large filter and picks up air from the stock scoop, plus it seals to the hood very well. Alot of companies are picking up air from the stock scoop in the rad support just like GM does it. This is what Airaid did too, they just improved upon the stock setup, it was within 3 hp of the best untuned kits that are on the market now. Airaid did pretty good in JRE test and its cost around $330 which is ALOT cheaper than the best tested kits..I dont know if I am going to wait for the JRE's 2nd test as I have a Pro-torque 2800 coming for my L99 and I am itching to put a REAL CAI on my car.. ADM RACE IMO IS THE BEST, IT JUST LOOKS AND PREFORMS THE BEST But $599 for a CAI is alittle too much for me. I really like the Halltech, for the moola its a nice kit. There R&D is excellent too. Still in the long run the Airaid for the moola sure looks good to me.. JMHO
